Lightweight Bout: Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira vs Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone
Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira (14-1, 1NC) stared his career 12-0 doing regional shows inBrazil before making the move to the UFC. Oliveira continued his winning streak submitting both Darren Elkins and Efrain Escudero in his first two fights with the UFC. He is a finisher with only one of his victories going the distance, six won by KO or TKO and seven by way of submissions. His lone loss came in December of 2010 where he was tapped out in less than two minutes by Jim Miller. At only 21 years old Oliveira is looking to work his way up the stacked lightweight division.
With all three of his loses coming in title matches Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (15-3, 1NC) was a perpetual contender in the WEC. Cerrone is always a guarantee for an exciting fight taking Fight of the Night five times in the WEC and once in the UFC. Even though he fancies himself as a muay thai kickboxer Cerrone has never won a match by TKO or KO. He has very good hands and kicks but twelve out of his fifteen victories have come by way of submission. This well rounded set of skills makes him a very difficult guy to fight. He possesses the ability to out point his opponents on the feet and finish anyone on the ground.
This is a very intriguing fight against an up and comer versus a guy who has fought the toughest competition in the world every time he steps into the cage. Both these fighters can end the bout anywhere and both have shown they’re not afraid to get into a brawl. The difference maker in this fight is going to be the experience of Cerrone (+125). He only has three more professional bouts than Oliveira (-155) but his level of competition has been much higher. Cerrone is going to outpoint Oliveira on the feet but when the fight hits the mat things get interesting. Both men have finished a lot of fights by submissions but Cerrone’s experience will prevail. Bettors can feel confident that the underdog comes out victories in this bout.
UFC Live 5 Prediction – Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone by way of submission

Lightweight Bout: Jim Miller vs “Smooth” Ben Henderson
Winner of his last fifteen of sixteen fights Jim Miller (20-2) has been tearing through the UFC lightweight division. Miller has never been finished and has won by submission eleven times. His most recent victory came against Kamal Shalorus where he finished the fight in the third round with knees and punches. Twice in his UFC career Miller has taken Submission of the Night honors and once Fight of the Night.
“Smooth” Ben Henderson (13-2) is the former WEC Lightweight Champion and is currently 1-0 in the UFC.Hendersonis one of those guys that’s never in a boring fight and has the ability to finish a fight where ever it takes place. He has also shown the ability to bounce back after bad rounds. In his fight against Jamie Varner he had lost the first two rounds being out boxed on the feet and overpowered in the grappling. It was 2:41 into the third thatHendersoncaught Varner in a standing guillotine and forced him to tap.
This fight is going to be closely contested with both fighters being very well rounded and looking to get into the title picture. Miller (-150) is one of the hottest fighters out there. He finds ways to drag the fight into his element and wear opponents down. Henderson (+120) is a slick striker and can have a fighter trapped in a submission in the blink of an eye. But at the end of the day Miller is going to be too much forHendersonto handle. Miller is on a roll that isn’t often seen in the UFC and Henderson got in his way at the wrong time.
UFC Live 5 Prediction – Jim Miller by way of unanimous decision

Welterweight Bout: Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy vs Chris “Lights Out” Lytle
Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy (23-9, 1NC) is looking to get back to the form that earned him a title shot back in March of 2010. Since being dominated by Georges St. Pierre, Hardy has dropped two fights in a row and one was by knockout in devastating fashion. Carlos Condit was able to catch him with a left hook that dropped him and finish with two follow up punches. Hardy has very powerful hands of his own finishing eleven fights by TKO or KO. His weakness lies in wrestling defense which Anthony Johnson exploited to control him for three rounds.
Chris “Lights Out” Lytle (40-18-4) made his UFC debut all the way back in 2000. He has always been a scrappy fighter but was never able to string together wins, which is mandatory to get a shot at a title. He was able to do so recently before he ran into a veteran replacement Brian Ebersole. Ebersole was able to score takedowns and control Lytle from inside the guard. Lytle is 36 years old and rumors have been swirling of a possible retirement.
Both these fighters have a wealth of experience under their belt and both are rooted in what they like to do, stand and bang. Hardy (-105) enters this fight with his back against the wall having dropped three fights in a row. Lytle (-125) also has some question marks surrounding him by being defeated by a UFC newcomer in a Fight of the Night performance. Hardy is younger and is going to be the hungrier of the two fighters. He isn’t in as much risk in this fight to get taken down and controlled as he was in his last match. Hardy uses his heavy hands to get himself back in the winning column.
UFC Live 5 Prediction – Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy by way of unanimous decision
