Light Heavyweight Bout
“American Psycho” Stephan Bonnar vs. Kyle “Kingsbu” Kingsbury
As a member of the original Ultimate Fighter show “American Psycho” Stephan Bonnar (13-7) has spent the majority of his career inside of the UFC. Consistency has been a problem for Bonnar never being able to string together more than three wins in a row. He is as tough of a fighter as there is only being finished twice and both by cuts. Bonnar combines his scrappy boxing with excellent jiu-jitsu to keep his opponents on their heels.
Kyle “Kingsbu” Kingsbury (11-2, 1NC) is riding a four fight win streak entering this bout. He lost in his octagon debut against Tom Lawler and has since been steadily improving his game having not lost since then and earning Fight of the Night honors twice. Kingsbury is a former defensive tackle for Arizona State University showing that he poses natural athleticism. He also shows explosiveness inside the cage ending four of his fights in less than 30 seconds.
This fight is going to show just how far Kingsbury (-140) has come, for better or worse. Bonnar’s (+110) lack of consistency has kept him from moving up the 205 ladder and as a result has kept him in the status of stepping stone. With this being the biggest fight of Kingsbury’s career against mid-level talent expect him to pass this test. He will use his superior athleticism and wrestling to control Bonnar on his way to victory.
Prediction – Kyle “Kingsbu” Kingsbury by way of unanimous decision

Welterweight Bout
Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann vs. Rick “The Horror” Story
Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann (17-5) has had a string of bad luck his last two fights losing by very close decisions. His most recent loss came to Diego Sanchez and earned him Fight of the Night. Kampmann is a fighter that prefers to stand using his slick kickboxing skills. He also has a very serviceable ground game ending six fights by submission.
Rick “The Horry” Story’s (13-4) route to a title shot got derailed in his last bout which he had no business losing. Fill in Charlie Brenneman was not only able to land good shots on the feet but he also dominated Story at his own game, wrestling. Before the loss Story had put together an impressive six fight win streak including a decision victory over the always dangerous Thiago Alves.
Where this bout takes place is most likely going to determine the winner. While Story (-130) has a nice standup game he is much more comfortable on the mat. On the feet the advantage goes to Kampmann (EV). Finishing seven fights by knockout has shown his quickness and power. The biggest factor for Story is the fact that he just lost a fight that should have never been close and he will be highly motivated to erase that from his mind. Story will wrestle his way to victory.
Prediction – Rick “The Horry” Story by way of unanimous decision

Bantamweight Bout
“The California Kid” Urijah Faber vs. Brian Bowles
“The California Kid” Urijah Faber (25-5) has been fighting for or defending a title in ten of his last fourteen bouts only losing to the best MMA has to offer. He has shown he has the ability to end fights anywhere with seven wins by (T)KO and thirteen by way of submission. Faber hasn’t lost a fight where a belt wasn’t involved since 2005. He is a fighter that likes to wear his opponents down with a relentless pace and strong grappling.
Being sidelined with injuries Brian Bowles (10-1) has only been able to fight four times since 2008. When Bowles is at his best he utilizes powerful standup with strong wrestling to quickly dispatch his opponents evident by him only going to distance once in his career. His only loss came in a bantamweight championship bout against one of the best fighters in the world Dominick Cruz.
Even though Bowles (+180) is among the top five at bantamweight he is going to have problems with the speed and strength of Faber. Faber (-230) is a native of 145 so the cut down grants him a size and power advantage over most fighters. Faber will do what he always does, quickly closing the distance, landing strikes on the way in and rely heavily on his grappling and top control to secure a finish.
Prediction – “The California Kid” Urijah Faber by way of submission

Middleweight Bout
“The Axe Murderer” Wanderlei Silva vs. Cung Le
Besides having the best nickname in MMA history “The Axe Murderer” Wanderlei Silva (34-11-1, 1NC) has been one of the most intimidating figures in all of sports. Unfortunately Silva is on the tail end of his career and it’s been a rough round since his Pride days. Since entering the UFC he has gone 2-4, was knocked out in 27 seconds in his most recent bout and made a drop down to middleweight. While he still has one punch knockout power his chin has betrayed him late in his career.
Making his UFC debut and his first fight since June of 2010 Cung Le (7-1) is one of the most creative kickers in all of MMA. Le has finished all of his victories by (T)KO and is the former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion. His only loss came against heavy handed Scott Smith which he lost by KO. His recent hiatus away from the ring was due to Le pursuing his acting career.
Silva’s (+110) career is coming to a close and he knows it. He will utilize this factor to push him to be in the best shape he can possibly be in for this fight. In the past cardio has been an issue for Le (-140) and the extended amount of time away from the octagon will only make it worse. As long as Silva doesn’t rush in and get knocked out early he will look to drag this fight into deeper waters and remind the world why he’s known as The Axe Murderer.
Prediction – “The Axe Murderer” Wanderlei Silva by way of TKO

Light Heavyweight Bout
Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Dan “Hendo” Henderson
Coming off a fight where he avenged a previous loss Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (20-5) was able to come back after the devastating loss of his light heavyweight belt. Rua was able to defeat Forrest Griffin, the man that beat him in his UFC debut, in less than two minutes with a right hook followed by vicious hammer fists. No stranger to the knockout Rua has finished seventeen of his twenty victories by (T)KO. He uses an ultra aggressive style of muay thai to keep his opponents backpedaling and chops them down with leg kicks.
Dan “Hendo” Henderson (28-8) has been on a tear as of late winning six out of seven with one of those wins coming over Fedor Emelianenko. Henderson compliments his Olympic caliber Greco-Roman wrestling with an iron chin and a bomb for a right hand. His last three fights he has finished by (T)KO and in his bout with Rafael Cavalcante won the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Championship. Henderson also carries with him the impressive fact that he has never been knocked out in his career.
Henderson (+110) believes that if anyone stands with him for too long he will eventually catch his opponent with his right hand that has knocked out so many people in his career. In this bout it would be more to his advantage to get this fight to the mat. Even though Henderson possesses one of the best chins in MMA Rua (-140) is a knockout artist. He’s made a career of knocking people silly and if Henderson gets to comfortable on the feet the same will happen to him. Rua has shown he doesn’t fight off takedowns well and instead concedes them and goes to work with his submissions. Look for Henderson to attempt takedowns early and often, completing most, only to walk into a big punch by Rua late.
Prediction – Mauricio “Shogun” Rua by way of TKO
