Welterweight Bout: Rory “The Water Boy” Macdonald vs Mike “Quicksand” Pile
Rory “The Water Boy” Macdonald (11-1) has shown ever improving standup every time he enters the cage. Holding a record of 2-1 inside the UFC he showed how improved he is in his lone loss. Carlos Condit, the current number one contender in the welterweight division, had his hands full until the very last moments of the third round when he finished Macdonald. His most recent victory came against The Ultimate Fighter 5 winner Nate Diaz via unanimous decision.
A veteran of MMA Mike “Quicksand” Pile (21-7-1) has fought in many different promotions and in 2005-6 held the WEC Welterweight Championship. Winner of his last eight out of ten, six by way of submission, Pile uses a grinding wrestling style to get his opponents down and land punches from the guard. He also utilizes a very advanced jiu-jitsu game evident by seventeen of his twenty wins coming by submission.

Winner of his last three out of four fights Jorge “El Conquistador” Rivera (18-8) is looking to show he is still relevant in the UFC despite his age. The 39 year old lost his last fight against Michael Bisping in a heated match up that was fueled by Rivera’s pre fight trash talking and Bisping’s post fight spat at Rivera’s corner. Rivera finds himself in desperate need of a win considering his age and overall ineffectiveness against Bisping.
A new comer to MMA Constantinos Philippou (7-2, 1NC) has spent most of his career in the Ring of Combat promotion. Going 7-1, with one no contest, Philippou made his UFC debut in March of this year against Nick Catone. The fight was at a catchweight of 195 and lost his debut via unanimous decision.
There isn’t much mystery to where this fight is going to take place. Both fighters are going to look to stand and bang until someone is on the ground. Rivera (-135) is a well rounded muay thai fighter who looks to punish his opponents with knees and kicks. Philippou (+105) has the majority of his wins by TKO or KO and also likes to beat guys up on the feet. Rivera is going to use his experience and patience to pick his shots and wear the new comer out on his feet.

Welterweight Bout: Dennis “Superman” Hallman vs “Bad Boy” Brian Ebersole
As a former state champion wrestler Dennis “Superman” Hallman (65-13-2, 1NC) likes to use his grappling to gain the advantage in fights. Even with so many fights under his belt Hallman has only fought in the UFC three times and has a record of 2-1. His last win in the UFC was in November of 2010 when he defeated Karo Parisyan in the first round by way of TKO.
“Bad Boy” Brian Ebersole (47-14-1, 1NC) has never been knocked out in his career which is quite the accomplishment since he’s stepped in the cage 63 times. Eversole has only competed in the UFC once which was in February of 2011 where he beat Chris Lytle by way of unanimous decision. In his one fight with the UFC he showed a great chin and unorthodox striking on the way to his victory.
Both these men only have a combined four fights in the UFC but they are far from newcomers. Between them they have more than 100 victories and over 20 years of cage experience. This fight will come down to who can control the ground game. Ebersole (-105) has shown powerful wrestling and good control on the ground. The difference maker will be Hallman’s (-125) submissions. Both men are lacking in the standup department and will be looking to go to the ground. Bettors can count on Hallman locking up a submission when it does.

Middleweight Bout: “The Phenom” Vitor Belfort vs Yoshihiro Akiyama
A former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion “The Phenom” Vitor Belfort (19-9) has recently made the switch to middleweight. In his return to the UFC Belfort took on former middleweight champion Rich Franklin. The fight was contested at the catchweight of 195 and Belfort won by TKO just three minutes into the first round. His outstanding performance earned him a shot at the middleweight champion Anderson Silva, arguably the best pound for pound fighter in the world. Belfort was knocked out 3:25 into the first round by a beautiful front kick from Silva. Belfort is looking to get himself back in the title picture for another shot at Silva.
Yoshihiro Akiyama (13-3, 2NC) started his career 9-1 but has recently found himself in a slump. He hasn’t won a fight since 2009 and has suffered two losses since that victory. Chris Leben, who is known as a pure striker, was able to tap Akiyama with a triangle choke late in the third round. Akiyama is best known for his top shelf judo to control the pace of the fight and using a brawlers mentality on the feet.
Fighting at 185 pounds Belfort (-320) is going to have a strength advantage against almost anyone that steps in the cage. This is going to neutralize Akiyama’s (+240) great judo and Belfort’s lightening fast hands will keep him at bay. Akiyama has had very good performances inside the UFC but in this fight he is overmatched. Bettors can look for Belfort to do pretty much whatever he wants in this fight.

Light Heavyweight Bout: “Suga” Rashad Evans vs “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Tito Ortiz
“Suga” Rashad Evans (15-1-1) is the The Ultimate Fighter 2 winner and the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. With only one blemish in his career, where he was knocked out by Lyoto Machida, Evans has been the model of caution and consistency in his UFC career. Evans uses his wrestling to keep guys on the mat and his quickness to elude danger on the feet. This strategy has been kind to Evans so don’t expect it to stop now.
Just a month removed from his last fight “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Tito Ortiz (17-8-1) will again take to the cage. An overwhelming underdog against Ryan Bader he was able to land a nice punch on the feet and follow Bader to the mat to finish with a guillotine. Before that Ortiz had been winless in a period spanning five years and was constantly battling injuries.
Both of these fighters have a draw on there record which occurred in July of 2007 the last time they met. Each of them is going to be looking to erase that memory and finish the fight the way they couldn’t do the first time around. Since that fight Evans (-500) has been constantly improving his craft and fighting the top competitors in the world. Ortiz (+300) has been on the shelf and forced into nursing old wounds. Evans quickness and top shelf wrestling is going to be to much for Ortiz to handle. He will handle Ortiz for three rounds and walk out with a better feeling about the draw.
