The Honda Classic is a stroke play format tournament on the PGA Tour that has been a tour stop since 1972. Back then it was called the Jackie Gleason’s Inverrary Classic and it has been called The Honda Classic since 2002. The tournament has been played at the PGA National Golf Club at the Champion Course since 2007.
This week’s event will be played on a beautiful course that stretches out over 7,140 yards. The course is a par 70 and the total purse this week is $6.8 million. The Honda Classic winner will take home a first place check for $1.224 million dollars.

Last year’s winner was USA’s Justin Thomas. Thomas shot a total score of 272 to finish -8 under par and won in a playoff over USA’s Luke List. Thomas is the +500 favorite to win this week and would become just the 5th player to win the event twice. The other two time winners include USA’s Jack Nicklaus, USA’s Johnny Miller, USA’s Mark Calcavecchia and Ireland’s Pádraig Harrington.
