2015 Valero Texas Open Odds, Free Picks & Predictions – Jordan Spieth the 8/1 Vegas Favorite: The betting odds on who will win the 2015 Valero Texas Open have been released at Bovada Sportsbook and the favorite to win on the PGA Tour this week is Jordan Spieth at 8/1 odds. The Valero Texas Open will take place this week starting on Thursday, March 26th at The Oaks Course at the TPC San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas.
The Valero Texas Open has always been played in San Antonio since it first began on the PGA Tour in 1922. Back then the event was called simply the “Texas Open” and was played primarily at the Brackenridge Park Golf Course except for the 1927 and 1928 years when it was played at Willow Springs Golf Course. The event has seen the biggest names in the sports travel thru and play over the years including wins by all-time PGA legends Ben Hogan, Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead among others.
This tournament has always been regarded by pros on the tour as one that is very easy to score low numbers. In fact, every year ince 1934 the winner of the Valero Texas Open has shot a winning score that’s been under par. It’s so easy, in fact, that the all-time PGA Tour record for a Par 72 course was set here in 2003 when Tommy Armour III shot a 254 to finish -26 under par. The Oaks Course at the TPC San Antonio is a par 72 course that stretches over 7,433 yards and is an absolutely beautiful course to play and watch an event on the PGA Tour.
Last year’s 2014 Valero Texas Open Winner was Australia’s Steven Bowditch who shot a total score of 280 to finish -8 under par. Bowditch took home the first place winner’s purse of $1,116,000. Despite winning the Valero Texas Open last season, Bowditch has been given long shot 150/1 odds to repeat as champion this week by Bovada Sportsbook.
