2015 The Barclays Odds, Free Picks & Predictions – Odds to Win The Barclays: The odds to win The Barclays 2015 tournament this week on the PGA Tour have been posted online by top-rated Bovada Sportsbook and Jordan Spieth has been listed as the 11/2 betting favorite. The Barclays 2015 officially tees off with opening round action on Thursday, August 27th from the Plainfield Country Club in Plainfield, New Jersey.
The Barclays first began on the PGA Tour as a stop back in 1967 when it was called the Westchester Classic. The original location for that 1967 tournament was held at the Westchester Country Club in Harrison, New York. The great PGA legend, Jack Nicklaus, won the inaugural event when he shot a total score of 272 to finish -16 under par. Nicklaus won this event two times in his magnificent career as he also won in 1972.
This tournament has been played under a wide variety of sponsored names since it began in 1967 but has been called The Barclays since 2007. The Barclays has been played in late August since it took over as the sponsored name of this event as this tournament used to be played in June either the week before the U.S. Open or the week after.
The Barclays 2015 will be a par 71 stroke play event at the very impressive Plainfield Country Club. The total purse for the 2015 event will be $8.25 million with the first place winner going home $1.485 million richer. 125 PGA Tour pros qualify for The Barclays and this event kicks off the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup playoff system as the participants for The Barclays are determined by the number of FedEx Cup points earned over the course of the PGA Tour regular season.
Last year’s winner of The Barclays was USA’s Hunter Mahan. Mahan shot a total score of 270 to finish -14 under par and win the winner’s purse of $1.440 million at the Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey. Other recent past winners of The Barclays include Adam Scott in 2013, Nick Watney in 2012, Dustin Johnson in 2011 and Matt Kuchar in 2010.
The all-time aggregate scoring record for this tournament is held by Bob Gilder who shot a 261 in 1982. The to par scoring record is -19 under par and held by Johnny Miller (1974), Bob Gilder (1982) and Dustin Johnson (2011).
