2013 Masters Odds and Predictions: Favorites, Sleepers and Dark Horses to Win at Augusta National

2013 Masters Free Picks: Vegas Odds on Favorites and Sleepers to Win at Augusta National: Although he doesn’t have the ideal power and length off the tee, there is no denying that Brandt Snedeker is on a roll entering the Masters. He has made seven starts in 2013, picking up a win and four top-three finishes. Snedeker is currently first on the PGA Tour in scoring average, second in greens reach in regulation, fifth in scoring average and 10th in putting. He may not be able to shorten to course like some of the heavy hitters, but his accuracy with the irons and reliable putter should allow him to navigate the tricky greens and make a run at a green jacket.

He has had plenty of close calls in multiple majors, but Lee Westwood has been in the hunt at Augusta on a routine basis lately. He has finished 11th or better in the Masters in four of the last five years, and more importantly, he finished second in the tournament in 2010 and third just last season. Westwood is currently on the notorious list of best players that haven’t won a major, but if he is going to change that, it will like come at Augusta.

His surprising victory in the 2011 PGA Championship put Keegan Bradley on the map, and after getting some lessons from Phil Mickelson, the rising star could be ready to make Augusta the site of his second major title. He finished a respectable 27th in his debut in the Masters last year, and he has finished in the top 10 in five of the 10 tournaments he has played in this year. More importantly, he ranks in the top 10 on the PGA Tour in driving distance and scoring average, and he has the skill set to make the most of the course’s par 5s.

Sleeper Specials

In four starts in 2013, Justin Rose has notched three top-10s, including a second-place finish. More importantly, he has had some success in the Masters throughout his career, finishing 11th or better in three of his last five starts, including an eighth-place finish last year. Rose ranks in the top 10 on the PGA Tour in driving distance, and he has the physical tools to attack the course and put up low scores. His putter has always been a question mark and is the reason he has yet to win a major, but Rose has getting the job done on the greens so far this season. If he continues to put well, he could sneak up and grab the green jacket.

After winning the U.S. Open in 2010, Graeme McDowell went into a funk at the majors that lasted through 2011. However, he busted out of the slump in a big way last year, finishing 12th or better in all four major tournaments, notching up a pair of top-five finishes. McDowell doesn’t crush the ball off the tee, but he does rank 12th in putting and fourth in driving accuracy. He also brings some momentum into Augusta National, having finished in the top 10 in three of his five starts in 2013. His solid all-around game has won a major title in the past and put him in contention four times in 2012. McDowell should be lurking near the top of the leaderboard, and if he can come up with one or two big shots, he could win the Masters.

Big Name to Avoid

Despite being a two-time major winner and a former winner of the green jacket, Angel Cabrera looks awful shaky heading into this year’s Masters. He has yet to finish in the top 15 in a tournament in 2013, and he missed the cut completely at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March. Meanwhile, he has also missed the cut in five of the last seven major tournaments, and his 32nd-place finish at Augusta last year was his worst showing at the Masters since 2008. Cabrera has surprised at the majors in the past, but he would have to have a monumental turnaround to win a second green jacket in 2013.
