2010 PGA Championship Odds and Predictions – Tiger and Phil Favored to Win: Tiger Woods clings to his number one in the world rating after shooting a horrendous 18 over par at one of his most successful venues. “I didn’t drive it all this week,” said Woods. “My irons weren’t very good, and I made nothing.” The weekend ended with a 7 over par 77 and a tournament Tiger would like to forget. “It is what it is,” he said. “I’ve got to be ready come back Thursday. That’s all that matters.” He tees off Thursday at 9:20 AM ET on the 10th hole paired with defending champion Y.E. Yang and Vijay Singh on the difficult Whistling Straits in Kohler, WI. Y.E. Yang is 150/1 odds to repeat, Singh 100/1 odds to win, and Woods is 12/1 to win the final major of 2010.
Even more disappointing than Tiger’s errant display was the meltdown Phil Mickelson had on Sunday with yet another chance to overtake Tiger as number one in the world rankings. Phil was in position to win, and only needed a top 4 finish to overtake Tiger in the World Golf Rankings. He tanked it on Sunday with a 78 final round that was a shot worse than Woods. “I don’t really want to relive it,” Lefty said afterward. Phil’s known as a gambler, he must be betting on Tiger retaining the number one ranking as he doesn’t seem to want it himself. Phil tees it up at 2:35 PM ET on Thursday on number one in the traditional pairing of the Masters Champ (Mickelson), US Open Champ Graeme McDowell, and Open Champion Louis Oosthuizen. Odds makers at Bodog have Louis is at 66/1 odds to make it two majors in a row, McDowell is at 50/1 to win, and Mickelson is favored at 10/1 to win the PGA.
Atop the FedEx Cup points for most of the year Ernie Els has two wins and was in contention on Sunday before a 6 over par 76 dropped him from 4th to 22nd last week. The Big Easy finished third at the U.S. Open and was in position to win the tournament in the final round. The solid showing helped him leap into the No. 6 ranking, but he missed the cut at the British Open. Bodog sportsbook has Els at 28/1 to win the PGA.
Others favored to win this week are the young sensation Rory McIlroy at 16/1 and Padraig Harrington who we haven’t heard much from this year at 20/1 to win. Another player who is having a good year and favored is two time 2010 winner Steve Stricker at 22/1 to win at Whistling Staits. After the way the top players made big numbers last week I’d take the field at 10/1! Check out the latest most current 2010 PGA Championship Odds at NSAwins.com as the vegas odds move by the second.
