Bet On Jets @ Colts OVER 44 at BOVADA
The Jets enter this game 0-2 with the 32nd total offense in the NFL. Woof. However, they have played two of the elite defenses in the NFL the first two weeks, the Bills and 49ers. The Jets offense is not as bad as it looks on paper and they will get a chance to to get on track this week against the Colts.
Now Colts fans may be reading this and arguing that I am disrespecting their #1 ranked total defense. Not exactly. I think the Colts have a solid defense but they aren’t anywhere near as dominant as the stats say. They played two mediocre offenses, at best, in the first two weeks against the Jaguars and Vikings. They will face another in the Jets, of course, but that’s not the real reason why I like the OVER this week.
The reason I am betting the OVER is I really think the Colts offense is going to come alive this week against the Jets. Phillip Rivers has been underwhelming the first two games but he can and will put up a lot of yards and points against this Jets defense. Look for the Colts to put a heavy emphasis on getting Rivers comfortable in their offense this week and for this to be a much higher scoring affair than the stats and total would suggest.
Bet On Vikings +2.5 vs Titans at BOVADA
The Minnesota Vikings came into this season with expectations to win the NFC North Division and be a NFC playoff team. That was then, this is now. They come into week 3 with their backs against the wall as they find themselves 0-2 and needing a win at all costs to salvage their season imo. An 0-3 start, especially in the NFC, is just a recipe for disaster. You can stick a fork in the Vikings if they lose this week.
On the other side, the Titans come in 2-0 but hardly an impressive 2-0. They hung on to escape with a 16-14 win at Denver in their opener and then beat Jacksonville 33-30 last Sunday in their home opener. The Titans have a lot of work to do if they want to even be mentioned in the same sentence with the Chiefs and Ravens in the AFC.
I am taking the Vikings +2.5 this week. They are the desperate team, at home and are facing a team that just isn’t as good as they think they are or their media fanboys. Sure, Derrick Henry is a STUD and Mike Vrabel is a good coach but what else is so special about the Titans? They scream mediocre all over the field. Take the home dog with their backs to the wall.
