Pittsburgh Steelers at New Orleans Saints 2010 NFL Predictions, Odds, and Picks Week 8

Pittsburgh Steelers at New Orleans Saints 2010 NFL Predictions, Odds, and Picks Week 8: The last two Super Bowl winners face off on NBC’s Football Night in American on Sunday night a Halloween in the French Quarter when the Pittsburgh Steelers travel to play the defending champion New Orleans Saints at 8:20 PM ET.  Last season the Steelers suffered the “hangover” and missed the playoffs, this year it’s looking much the same for the Saints who are at 4-3 but have recently lost to the Arizona Cardinals and were pummeled by the lowly Cleveland Browns.  The Steelers come in at 5-1 and in 1st place in the tough AFC North and are 3-0 on the road this season looking for their 4th road win.  The Steelers offense is gaining momentum since the return of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and their defense is one of the stingiest in the league.

New Orleans has been giving out turnovers like Halloween candy and quarterback Drew Brees handed out 4 interceptions to the Browns last week.  “We’re all in the midst of trying to put our finger on what exactly is going on,” Brees said after throwing his 10th pick in the five-game stretch – one fewer than he had last season. “We know the type of team we have. We know the type of work ethic we have. The effort is there. Guys want to win. Guys want to be great.”  The odds makers at BetUS have the New Orleans Saints -1 point favorites at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Saints lost 30-17 to the Browns and are just 1-6 against the spread for the season.  Brees completed 37 of 56 passes for 356 yards and 2 touchdowns but had the 4 picks hitting Marques Colston with 10 balls for 112 yards and an 8 yard touchdown.  The total has gone OVER in 4 of New Orleans’s last 6 games at home.  Vegas odds makers have the New Orleans Saints as +1500 odds to win the 2011 Super Bowl.

The Steelers escaped with a 1 point victory 23-22 at the Miami Dolphins to drop to 4-2 against the spread for the season failing to cover the 3 point spread.  Big Ben completed 19 of 27 passes for 302 yards and 2 touchdowns without a pick but had a couple of costly fumbles that might have made the game a safer victory.  Rashad Mendenhall carried 15 times for just 37 yards and will need to be more productive to the Steelers to continue to win on the road.  The total has gone OVER in 4 of Pittsburgh’s last 6 games when playing New Orleans.  Vegas odds makers have the over/under for the total score at 44 points combined of the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints.

I predict my Steelers will win on the road. Rich Fritz is a Blog Writer on NSAwins.com and not a pro handicapper. For expert NFL Football Predictions against the vegas spreads please visit the NSAwins.com homepage for top predictions today from the National Sports Advisors.
