New England Patriots at Detroit Lions 2010 NFL Predictions, Odds, and Picks Week 12

New England Patriots at Detroit Lions 2010 NFL Predictions, Odds, and Picks Week 12:  Head football coach Bill Belichick will take the New England Patriots on the road to play the Detroit Lions in a Thanksgiving Day special at 12:30 PM ET on CBS.  The Patriots are 8-2 1st in the AFC East with the best record in the NFL while the Lions are at 2-8 4th in the NFC North but as Coach Belichick points out have lost five of those games by less than a handful of points.  “We came in Monday and we didn’t even talk about the Colts,” quarterback Tom Brady said Tuesday. “We talked about the Lions and what we need to do to beat them. We talked about coming in and having a good day today, so we crammed a lot of information into these two days.”  Brady and Belichick have a knack for focusing on the present game and not getting caught up in the standings or records of which they are playing they just put together a game plan to win that game.  A little praise for the opponent is usually in that mix as Lion’s head football coach Jim Schwartz once worked with coach Belichick he said Coach Jim Schwartz “is one of the smartest guys I’ve ever worked with.”    The odds makers at SGB Global have the New England Patriots -6 1/2 point favorites on the road at the Detroit Lions.

The New England Patriots are coming off a big AFC victory 31-28 over Payton Manning’s Indianapolis Colts with an interception in the closing minutes to hold on to the win.  Quarterback Tom Brady completed 19 of 25 for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns hitting Deion Branch 7 times for 70 yards.  Running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis carried the ball 21 times for 96 yards and a touchdown while Danny Woodhead continued to excel with 7 carries for 69 yards including a 35 yard TD run as well as 4 catches for 21 additional yards.  The Pats are just 5-4-1 ATS for the season.  Vegas odds makers have the New England Patriots as +725 odds to win the 2011 Super Bowl.

The Lions are coming off a loss 35-19 against the resurgent Dallas Cowboys failing to cover but still at 7-3 against the spread for the season.  Quarterback Shawn Hill completed 32 of 47 passes for 289 yards 2 touchdowns and a pick.  The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Detroit’s last 6 games when playing New England and Detroit is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games when playing New England.  Vegas odds makers have the over/under for the total score at 50 1/2 points combined of the New England Patriots and Detroit Lions.

I like the Pats to win on the road!
