Minnesota Vikings at New England Patriots 2010 NFL Predictions, Odds, and Picks Week 8

Minnesota Vikings at New England Patriots 2010 NFL Predictions, Odds, and Picks Week 8: Quarterback Brett Favre will probably be a game time decision as his Minnesota Vikings head east to Gillette Stadium to take on the surging New England Patriots.  Favre has been in a walking boot to help heal 2 fractures in his left heel putting his starting game streak in jeopardy.   “It probably should have ended a long time ago,” Favre said, adding: “Whether it ends this week or it ends at the end of the year, it ends, and I will always be proud of it.”  The attention on Favre’s injury has somewhat muffled the fact the wide receiver Randy Moss is returning to play against the team that let him go recently and is aware of all the signs and signals used by quarterback Tom Brady.  “Sure, he can probably tell them the plays,” Brady said. “He knows the signals and stuff, but that’s why you have to change them. Hopefully, he tells them one thing, then you fake it and they’re guessing and maybe they guess wrong. Who knows?” The odds makers at Brobury have the New England Patriots -7 1/2 point favorites at home against the Minnesota Vikings.

New England has won 4 straight games most recently 23-20 at the San Diego Chargers where they covered as an underdog leaving them 3-2-1 against the spread for the season.  Brady completed 19 of 32 passes for 159 yards and a touchdown hitting Deion Branch 4 times for 39 yards.  New England is 12-1 SU in its last 13 games at home.  Vegas odds makers have the New England Patriots as +900 odds to win the 2011 Super Bowl.

The Vikings are at 2-4 after a touch division loss to 28-24 to the Green Bay Packers on the road where a late touchdown to Percy Harvin was overturned as he only got one foot in bounds to take away another Brett Favre heroic win.  Favre completed 16 of 29 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown but it was the 3 poor choices for interceptions that stood out.  Adrian Peterson had a good game carrying the ball 28 times for 131 yards and a touchdown.  The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Minnesota’s last 5 games when playing New England.  Vegas odds makers have the over/under for the total score at 43 1/2 points combined of the Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots.

I’ll take the points on this one and go with the underdog Vikes on the road. Rich Fritz is a Blog Writer on NSAwins.com and not a pro handicapper.
