1969 – This was the year man first walked on the moon, and also the last time the New York Jets walked on a superbowl field…. And I’m glad to report this morning that their streak is still alive!!!!
42 Years and Counting – This streak is no small “feet” my friends, yes I know it was in danger of ending yesterday, but when the chips were down, they did what they always do and persevered….
Schadenfreude – This awesome word was on full display yesterday in my household and I’m sure every household in New England. It may be as intense and satisfying to see teams and people you despise go down as it is to see your team win. When you talk shit at every turn and give your opponents no respect, why should you get any in return? I have some Alabama friends who said they were going to root for Auburn to win the national title to keep it in the SEC..What?? That’s certainly not how its done in pro sports and not how my friends in Boston roll, I can tell you that!
The Flight Home – Did you see the story about how the Jets plane circled the Empire State Building on the way back from New England so the team could see it all lit up in Jets green? Well I was just wondering, did the team plane circle the Dump on the way back last night???
Rex’s Postgame – Did you hear Rex say nobody has a right to criticize his team? What? It’s okay for you and your team of punks to trash talk everyone in sight, but now nobody can criticize you?? There he goes, sticking another foot in his mouth…. When this guy dies, people will still be hearing him flap his gums from 6 feet under….
Green Bay/Chicago- Oh, I almost forgot there was another game on yesterday. Thank God Green Bay pulled it out, how lousy would the superbowl have been if Chicago made it and Cutler couldn’t play (although that 3rd stringer looked better than the Chicken Cutlet). Green Bay’s offense went into a funk and they almost blew that game… Why did they go so conservative in the second half, it was only a 14 point lead?
Cutler Controversy- Looked to me like he took himself out of the game instead of the medical folks keeping him out… Maybe he was hurt bad, but it didn’t look it and you’d think he’d give it more of an effort to go….
Early Superbowl Thoughts – This ought to be a good game. The Packers have a good passing attack which is the only way to beat Pittsburgh… and their defense is good too, but Big Ben has been there, done that and he will be a force to deal with…can’t wait.
