2019 NFL Preseason Rankings: NFC East Power Rankings

2019 NFC East Odds2019 NFL Preseason Rankings – NFC East Power Rankings: We are heading into the final week of the NFL preseason, and with Week 1 just around the corner, it is time to take a closer look at how each division stacks up. Of course, not all divisions are created equally, and in the past, the NFC East has had a way of being surprisingly competitive, with all four teams remaining in the mix into the final weeks of the season. However, I don’t see that being the case in 2019. The division could produce a pair of player teams, but there are also a couple of candidates to finish among the bottom feeders of the league. Check out my complete breakdown of the NFC East ahead of the 2019 NFL season.

2019 NFL Preseason Rankings: NFC East Power Rankings

1. Philadelphia Eagles

In terms of overall depth, the Eagles may have the most offensive firepower of any team in the league. Carson Wentz is back under center, and the last time he was healthy, he was the frontrunner for MVP honors. Philadelphia also has a staple of backs and receivers who can contribute, along with the best tight end tandem in the NFL. The defense isn’t bad either, especially along the defensive front. If the Eagles avoid the injury bug, I expect them to win the NFC East and potentially make a Super Bowl run.

2. Dallas Cowboys

It has been a drama-filled offseason in Dallas, and it isn’t over yet. Assuming Ezekiel Elliott reports for Week 1, the Cowboys have all the pieces in place for a playoff run. Elliott, Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper and the offensive line should be able to put more than enough points on the board to support what should be one of the strongest defenses in the league. Still, a tough schedule could make a division title tough to come by, and you can’t help but wonder if all the contract talks for a few players have caused some friction/loss of focus for the team as a whole. I see the Cowboys as a boom-or-bust team in 2019.

3. New York Giants

The good news is that the Giants have Saquon Barkley to shoulder a ton of the offensive load. The bad news is that they don’t have much else. The rapidly aging Eli Manning could find himself in quarterback controversy with rookie Daniel Jones before the year is over, and tight end Evan Engram and receiver Sterling Shepard are good, but not great, targets in the passing game. The defense added some younger pieces, but it is unlikely to be noticeably better than it was a year ago. Barkley and a serviceable offensive line will give the Giants a chance in some games, but this team is not making nay major noise in 2019.

4. Washington Redskins

Quarterback Dwayne Haskins and running back Derrius Guice are two potential building blocks, but Haskins needs time to develop and Guice is coming off a major knee injury. In the meantime, the Redskins have serious questions about their offense line, and they don’t really have any proven weapons in the passing game. Washington is going to struggle to score points, and while the defense has a few playmakers like Landon Collins and Jonathan Allen, they are far from a lockdown unit on that side of the ball. It’s going to be a long year.
