2018 NFL Picks & Betting Odds Week 5 – Tennessee Titans @ Buffalo Bills Predictions
The Tennessee Titans enter this week with a 3-1 overall record and 3-1 against the spread. The Titans are coming off of back-to-back wins against two of the best teams in the NFL the last two weeks. The Titans went to Jacksonville and beat the Jaguars 9-6 two weeks ago and then went back home and beat the Philadelphia Eagles 26-23 last Sunday.
1st year head coach Mike Vrabel looks like a great hire so far for the Titans front office as he has his team playing great football thru the first month. Vrabel made his bones as a defensive player on 3 Super Bowl winning teams in New England and he has brought his no nonsense, tough persona to Tennessee and the Titans players have taken it well. The Titans aren’t the most talented team in the league but they play really hard and are well coached and disciplined.
The Titans offense comes into this week averaging just 312.3 yards per game and 5.1 yards per play this season. The offense is definitely a work in progress but has room for improvement and should get better as the year progresses. Defensively, the Titans are allowing 360.8 yards per game and 6 yards per play. The defense has been solid but does need to get better as opposing quarterbacks have a 90.9 quarterback rating against them.
The Buffalo Bills come into this week with a 1-3 overall record and 1-3 against the spread. The Bills came into this season with high expectations after making the playoffs last season for the 1st time this century but have been a bust so far. The Bills were shutout last week 22-0 at Green Bay.
The Bills front office has to be wondering if they made the right decision in drafting rookie quarterback Josh Allen with their 1st round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Allen has looked terrible so far thru four games as he’s completed just 53.4 percent of his passes and has just 2 touchdowns against 4 interceptions. Allen’s quarterback rating is 63.8 and he has looked like an absolute bust in our eyes. We weren’t sold on him in college at Wyoming and we still don’t get what the hype is about.
The Bills offense has been absolutely pathetic so far this season as it averages just 220.8 yards per game and 4 yards per play. The defense is at least respectable as they allow 358.3 yards per game and 5.6 yards per play.
We look for Tennessee to remain hot and win this game comfortably. Tennessee is far from a juggernaut and world beater but they should be able to put their foot on the throats of Buffalo’s neck and not let up this Sunday. Buffalo’s offense is just too bad to back and their defense is not good enough to make up for it. Tennessee to win by at least a touchdown and cover.
