The Oakland Raiders come into this week 3 NFL game desperately needing a win to avoid falling in an early hole that will be tough to climb out of. Head coach Jon Gruden is 0-2 so far in his return as Raiders coach after he saw his team collapse in the 4th quarter last week at Denver in a tough 20-19 loss. The Raiders controlled the game for this first 3 plus quarters but folded like a cheap suit when the game was on the line in the 4th quarter against their AFC West Division rivals.

The Raiders have been solid so far offensively in terms of moving the ball as they average 384 total yards of offense per game and 6.3 yards per play. However, the rushing game has been subpar as it is only gaining 93.5 yards per game and 3.7 yards per rush. Running back Marshawn Lynch only rushed for 65 yards on 18 carries last week against Denver but did have 1 touchdown run.

The Raiders were on fire last week in the passing game as quarterback Derek Carr completed 29 of his 32 passes for 288 yards but it didn’t lead to many points as Carr threw just 1 touchdown pass. Carr’s favorite target last week was wide out Amari Cooper who caught 10 balls for 116 yards. Carr will need to find a way to start generating more points on the scoreboard starting this week if the Raiders want to avoid the dreaded 0-3 hole.

The Miami Dolphins are off to a hot 2-0 overall record this 2018 season as they look to get back in the playoffs after last season’s dismal 6-10 season. The Dolphins are coming off of a solid 20-12 road win at the New York Jets last Sunday and now sit atop the AFC East Division standings after two weeks.

The Dolphins are 2-0 in the standings but you wouldn’t know it if you simply looked at the stats and especially the offensive stats. The Dolphins are averaging just 299.5 yards of total offense and 5.4 yards per play. The passing game has been the weak point as it’s only putting up 172 yards passing per game. However, the running game has been very good as it’s posting 127.5 yards rushing per game on 30 carries per game for a solid 4.3 yards per carry average.

The Dolphins are 2-0 and the favorites in this one but they haven’t exactly played elite teams so far in beating the Tennessee Titans 27-20 at home in week 1 and last week’s road win at the Jets. The Raiders are 0-2 but their first loss was against a dominant LA Rams team 33-13 while they should have won last week in Denver before getting outscored by 10 in the 4th quarter. We believe the Raiders are the better team in this matchup and they will be playing with their backs against the wall trying to avoid an 0-3 start. Take the points.
