2017 Week 2 NFL Picks – New England Patriots @ New Orleans Saints Odds & Prediction
The New England Patriots enter this week 2 NFL matchup with a 0-1 record after losing their opener 30-27 at home against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Patriots are 0-1 against the spread as they were a -8 point favorite against the Chiefs.
The Patriots have a lot to improve on heading into this matchup with the Saints including fixing their passing game. Five-time Super Bowl Champion quarterback Tom Brady was terrible in week 1 against the Chiefs. Brady finished with just 16 completions in 36 attempts for 267 yards with 0 touchdowns and 0 interceptions against Kansas City. Brady had a quarterback rating of just 70.0 and the Patriots offense finished with just 371 total yards despite scoring 27 points in week 1.
The Patriots have even more things to fix on defense heading into week 2 against the Saints. The Patriots defense was awful in week 1 against the Chiefs as they allowed a whopping 537 total yards to the Chiefs and were giving up big plays like people pass out Halloween candy on October 31st. It was an embarrassment and things could get worse this week against a better quarterback in Saints future Hall of Famer Drew Brees on a faster playing surface in the dome.
The New Orleans Saints also come into this week 2 NFL matchup with the Patriots sporting a 0-1 record. The Saints lost on Monday night at Minnesota by a score of 29-19. The Saints failed to cover as +3.5 point underdogs and are now 0-1 against the spread.
The Saints, like the Patriots, have been known for their explosive offense the past handful of years but were shut down in week 1 against the Vikings. The Saints defense was a mess in week 1 against the Vikings as it has been for years now. The defense gave up 470 total yards to a mediocre Vikings offense and were gashed on the ground for 129 yards. The Saints better fix things quick because New England is light years ahead of the Vikings on offense and Tom Brady is coming into this game angry after looking terrible in week 1.
