2017 NFL Predictions: Will New England Patriots Go Perfect 19-0 This Season?
Week 1 at home versus the Kansas City Chiefs on 9/7/17: The early week 1 NFL odds on this game have already been released at Bovada and New England is a -7.5 point favorite. We like New England to win this game outright no matter what and the only question will be whether they cover the spread or not. The Patriots aren’t losing on opening night when they get their 5th Super Bowl rings and commissioner Roger Goodell returns to Foxboro to hear the boo birds. Prediction: WIN
Week 2 on road versus the New Orleans Saints on 9/17/17: The Patriots will have 10 days to prepare for this road test and they should pass with flying colors. Patriots are simply too talented for the Saints and former Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks should have a big day. Prediction: WIN
Week 3 at home versus the Houston Texans on 9/24/17: The Texans have been owned by the Patriots for years now and nothing will change this early on in the season especially if Houston still has first round pick, quarterback Deshaun Watson, on the sideline. Prediction: WIN
Week 4 at home versus the Carolina Panthers on 10/1/17: The Carolina Panthers will be improved this season and they are a physical team. This should be a competitive game and challenge for New England. They should win but it won’t be a layup. Prediction: WIN
Week 5 on road versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on 10/5/17: This game is on Thursday Night and the Patriots will have a short week to prepare. This could be New England’s first loss as it has all the makings of a tough night for New England against a team looking to make a statement at home on national TV. However, we still like New England to prevail. Prediction: WIN
Week 6 on road versus the New York Jets on 10/15/17: The Patriots will have 10 days to get ready to face their hated rivals, the Jets, on the road. The Jets will be the worst team in the NFL this season and this game should be a blowout. Prediction: WIN
Week 7 at home versus the Atlanta Falcons on 10/22/17: The Falcons and Patriots will meet up again for a rematch of the Super Bowl on Sunday Night Football at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro. The Patriots have improved talent-wise since the Super Bowl and will have tight end Rob Gronkowski this time assuming he’s healthy. Prediction: WIN
Week 8 at home versus the San Diego Chargers on 10/29/17: We aren’t high on the San Diego Chargers this season as they look to be a 5 or 6 win team at best in our opinion. The Patriots should win this game in a laugher by at least 2-3 touchdowns. Prediction: WIN
Week 9 is New England’s BYE WEEK
Week 10 on road versus the Denver Broncos on 11/12/17: This game will be on Sunday Night Football at Mile High where the Patriots have had their most problems in the Bill Belichick and Tom Brady era. However, the Patriots will be coming off the bye and it’s hard to bet against Belichick with an extra week to prepare especially with the better team. Prediction: WIN
Week 11 on road versus the Oakland Raiders on 11/19/17: This Patriots would be coming into this game at 9-0 and the buzz for this potential AFC Championship Game preview will be enormous. We would like the Raiders chances much more if the game was in Oakland instead of Mexico. For that reason we will pick New England to win on the neutral field even if Oakland has more fans in the stands. Prediction: WIN
Week 12 at home versus the Miami Dolphins on 11/26/17: New England went 2-0 against Miami last season despite Miami making the AFC Playoffs. Head coach Adam Gase has things looking up in South Florida but they still aren’t ready to win a game of this magnitude on the road with New England playing to stay undefeated. Prediction: WIN
Week 13 on road versus the Buffalo Bills on 12/3/17: Tom Brady and Bill Belichick have absolutely owned the Buffalo Bills the last 17 years and that won’t change in this game on the road. No way. No how. Prediction: WIN
Week 14 on road versus the Miami Dolphins on 12/11/17: This game will be the toughest on the Patriots schedule. It’s on Monday Night Football, they will be 12-0 and the Dolphins will be looking to keep the 72 Dolphins happy by preventing New England from continuing on it’s journey to a 19-0 season. This game will be a huge game nationally. It will be close but we like Miami to pull out the win. Prediction: LOSS
Week 15 on road versus the Pittsburgh Steelers on 12/17/17: The Patriots will be looking to bounce back from their 1st loss of the season and they will be facing a Steelers team they have owned for years in Pittsburgh. Hard to see Belichick losing two games in a row in December especially with AFC Playoff seeding on the line. Prediction: WIN
Week 16 at home versus the Buffalo Bills on 12/24/17: This game could be the game the Patriots wrap up the #1 seed in the AFC Playoffs so they will bring their “A” game for sure. Plus, it’s against the Bills who they seemingly never lose to when they are healthy. Prediction: WIN
Week 17 at home versus the New York Jets on 12/31/17: This is an intriguing game because the Patriots could have the #1 seed wrapped up and the Jets will be looking to lose so they can get the #1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. It won’t surprise is in the least to see Belichick play the scrubs in the 2nd half and lose the game just to stick it to the Jets. Seriously. Prediction: WIN if the Pats NEED it for seeding, LOSS if the Pats don’t need the win to cost the Jets 2018 NFL Draft position.
