Cincinnati Bengals -2.5 over Baltimore Ravens We like the Bengals in their home opener to win and cover the -2.5 spread against AFC North rivals, the Baltimore Ravens. The Bengals finished 6-9-1 last season and missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2010 season. However, they should be improved this season and the addition of rookie wide receiver John Ross and rookie running back Joe Mixon should take the Bengals offense to new heights. Both rookies are explosive and take some of the burden off of wide receiver A.J. Green and quarterback Andy Dalton. The Ravens are a solid team as well but this is a tough spot for them on the road with an inconsistent offense that needs time to gel in 2017.
Philadelphia Eagles +1.5 over Washington Redskins The Eagles should be much improved this season over last year’s 7-9 squad and we look for them to be in the hunt to win the NFC East Division all season. Second year quarterback Carson Wentz is ready to take his game to the next level and the Eagles offense has added some nice pieces around him in wideouts Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith as well as running back Legarrette Blount. The Eagles went 0-2 against the Skins last season but Washington has taken a step back this offseason in our opinion after losing some key pieces including wide receivers Pierre Garcon and Desean Jackson. Take the Eagles to win outright.
Arizona Cardinals +1.5 over Detroit Lions The Cardinals started off the season last year 0-1 with a home loss to New England and were 1-3 after the first four weeks. They never recovered. Getting off to a fast start in 2017 is being stressed heavily by head coach Bruce Arians this summer and we look for the Cardinals to be one of the most improved teams in the NFL this season. The Cardinals offense should be explosive led by running back David Johnson and they should feast on a Lions defense that was a medicore 18th in the NFL in total defense last season. The Lions offense was just as medicore as they finished 21st last season and our money is on Detroit being one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this season. Arizona is the better and more talented team in this game and should be favored.
