Leonard Fournette, Running Back for Jacksonville Jaguars(+400 Odds to Win Rookie of the Year) The 6 foot, 232 pound running back out of LSU was the 4th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Fournette is a great talent that combines speed and power in a tough frame that should transition well to the NFL game. Fournette has already put a target on his back league-wide after calling the NFL “easy” after his first preseason game against New England so expect opposing defensive players to be extra motivated to show him that he’s crazy. Besides that comment, however, we expect Fournette to transition nicely into the NFL and have a great rookie season. The jaguars will give Fournette plenty of carries as they don’t have a lot of talent offensively and want to establish a tough ground game to give themselves a physical identity under new head coach Doug Marrone.
Christian McCaffrey, Running Back for Carolina Panthers(+400 Odds to Win Rookie of the Year) The 5 foot 11 inch, 205 pound running back was the 8th overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft for the Carolina Panthers out of Stanford. McCaffrey had a great college career and it included winning the AP College Football Player of the Year in 2015 after his sophomore season. He rushed for 2019 yards and 8 touchdowns that season and followed up by rushing for 1603 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. Besides rushing, McCaffrey is a helluva pass catcher as he caught 99 balls in his three college seasons for 1206 yards and 10 touchdowns. But, wait, it gets better. McCaffrey is also an amazing punt and kick returner and had a whopping 3865 all purpose yards in his sophomore season and 2327 in his junior season. He does it all and that bodes well for his chances at NFL offensive Rookie of the Year this season.
Deshaun Watson, Quarterback for Houston Texans(+400 Odds to Win Rookie of the Year) The former quarterback sensation at Clemson was the 12th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft for the quarterback hungry Houston Texans. The 6 foot 3 inch, 218 pound signal caller is definitely the quarterback of the future for the Texans but the question is, when? Reports out of Texans training camp is Tom Savage is still expected to win the opening day job as the starter but it’s only a matter of time before Watson wins the job this season. Make no mistake, the Texans did not move up in the draft to have Watson sit the bench this season. Watson won the National Title at Clemson last year and threw for 4593 yards and 41 touchdowns along with 629 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns. Watson is a great athlete and the sky is the limit for him as the Texans quarterback of the future.
