New England Patriots(14-2 in 2016, -216 odds to Win 2017 AFC Title) – The Patriots captured their 5th Lombardi Trophy last season in a thrilling Super Bowl win over the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime. The win was perhaps the greatest comeback in professional sports history as the Patriots overcame a 28-3 deficit late in the 3rd quarter to win. Head coach Bill Belichick didn’t rest easy in the offseason as he knew his team needed more speed on both sides of the ball and had a great offseason that included trades for wide out Brandin Cooks, defensive end Kony Ealy and tight end Dwayne Allen. The Pats also signed talented cornerback Stephon Gilmore and landed a talented defensive end in the draft in Derek Rivers. The Pats look loaded on both sides of the ball and this arguably could be the most talented team in Patriots history. Yes, the roster is THAT good folks.

Oakland Raiders(12-4 in 2016, +650 odds to Win 2017 AFC Title) – The Raiders had a great season last year and were on their way to obtaining home field advantage throughout the AFC Playoffs and were considered to be a strong threat to New England to get to the Super Bowl. However, everything came crashing down like a deck of cards when quarterback Derek Carr got injured against the Colts in week 16. That injury kept Carr from playing in week 17 and in the playoffs where the Raiders were ousted by the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round. The Raiders look to be back in the mix this 2017 NFL season after obtaining running back Marshawn Lynch in a trade with Seattle and having a strong draft. The Raiders should be a force this season and if the defense can improve than they can legitimately give New England a run for it’s money in the AFC Playoffs.

Houston Texans(9-7 in 2016, +650 odds to Win 2017 AFC Title) – The Texans have been looking to take that next step for a few years now after consistently winning the AFC South Division but not having much success in the playoffs. Last season looked like they could take that next step after beating Oakland and hanging tought at New England in the first half in the AFC Divisional Round but failed to deliver as they got manhandled by a superior New England team in the 2nd half. The Texans problem has always been subpar play from the quarterback position but they made a strong move in the NFL Draft to trade up and select Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson to hopefully give them a top notch qb for the future. If Watson can be ready to play at a high level come playoff time than the Texans will be a dangerous team as their defense is one of the best in the business.
