Sunday, September 11th, 2016
Cincinnati Bengals -2.5 over New York Jets – The Cincinnati Bengals have been one of the league’s top teams in the regular season for the last five years or so and have won double digit regular season games the last 4 years. Winning in the regular season is not a problem for head coach Marvin Lewis and he should once again have one of the AFC’s top teams this season as it arguably has the most overall talent in the AFC. The Bengals open up at the New York Jets and we have serious doubts about the Jets this season. The Jets went 10-6 last season under first year head coach Todd Bowles but we don’t see them being that good this season as we expect quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to regress to his usual medicore self and we feel the defense won’t be as good either as Darrelle Revis is another year older and another step slower than his prime all-pro caliber self. Lay the points and watch Cincinnati control this game and win by at least a touchdown.
New York Giants pk over Dallas Cowboys – The New York Giants have all the pieces in place to be amongst the most explosive offenses in the NFL this 2016 season behind quarterback Eli Manning and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. The Giants scored 26.2 points per game last season to finish 6th in the NFL and they should match that this year under new head coach Bob McAdoo who was the offensive coordinator last season. The Cowboys enter this game looking like they will need to rely on a big day from their defense to slow the Gmen down as they might struggle matching points now that quarterback Tony Romo is out and rookie Dak Prescott will be called upon to make his first career NFL start. Prescott may have looked promising in the preseason but this is the big boy season now and growing pains happen to the best of them. The Gmen will have too much fire power to lose this game. Lay the points.
Indianapolis Colts -4 over Detroit Lions – The Indianapolis Colts look to bounce back from an 8-8 season last year and get back to what they did the previous three seasons when they went 11-5 in the regular season. The Colts should have a great shot at doing that if quarterback Andrew Luck stays healthy this season and gets back to the form that made him one of the most explosive quarterbacks in the game. The Colts offense should be vastly improved from last year’s 28th overall offense and their defense also should be improved if not for nothing else than they should be playing with a lead most of the time instead of from behind. It’s easier to defend when you can take chances and also when the opposing offense is forced to throw the ball to catch up. The Lions should be horrible this season and win even less games than the 7 they won last year. There is not much to be excited about with this roster at all and the offense should be horrendous with Calvin Johnson retired. This game should get ugly quick. Lay the points and take the Colts -4.
