2015-2016 NFL AFC Conference Odds & Predictions – Expert Picks, Favorites & Sleepers to Win AFC: The preseason NFL betting odds to win the AFC Conference for this upcoming 2015-2016 NFL football season have been released by Bovada Sportsbook and the odds makers have made the Indianapolis Colts the 3/1 favorite to win the AFC and make Super Bowl 50. The defending AFC and Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots have the next best odds to win the AFC followed closely by the Denver Broncos at 5/1 odds. Let’s take a closer look at the favorites to win the 2015-2016 AFC Conference as well as a couple of sleepers that we feel have a chance to represent the AFC this season in Super Bowl 50.
2015-2016 AFC Conference Odds & Predictions – The Favorites
Indianapolis Colts(3/1 Odds to Win AFC at Bovada) – Head coach Chuck Pagano has had his Indianapolis Colts on the cusp of making the Super Bowl the past couple seasons but a charmin soft defense has been the Achilles heel for the Colts in the postseason. Quarterback Andrew Luck is easily one of the Top 5 quarterbacks in the entire NFL and should only continue to get better as he matures and gains even more experience, however he should not be held blameless for the Colts postseason struggles especially after he only registered 7 points in a 45-7 beatdown at New England in the AFC Championship Game last season. The fact that Colts front office whined and cried about the Patriots deflating footballs is utterly embarrassing and simply glosses over the fact that the Colts haven’t been anywhere close to being in New England’s league the past few seasons and we still have serious doubts they will be able to compete with New England this season.
New England Patriots(9/2 odds at Bovada) – The defending Super Bowl Champions have been ridiculed all offseason by haters and whiners crying about “cheating” as if the PSI in footballs is the reason why they were able to steamroll the Colts 45-7 in the AFC title game. Yet nobody says two words about the fact that Tom Brady torched Seattle’s defense in the Super Bowl with footballs that were not deflated. The whole “deflate-gate” scandal was by far the most overhyped and overblown story in sports this century and will only serve to motivate and fuel Brady, head coach Bill Belichick and the rest of the Patriots this season. The jury is still out on the Patriots’ defensive secondary after losing Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner in the offseason, but their front seven is very talented led by a linebacker unit that features Jarod Mayo, Jamie Collins and Dont’a Hightower. Expect New England to be back in the AFC Championship game at minimum regardless if Brady’s four game suspension is upheld or not.
Denver Broncos(5/1 odds at Bovada) – Can we officially stop with the nonsense that Peyton Manning is the best quarterback of his generation and one of the top 5 quarterbacks of all-time? Seriously, how many times does this guy have to choke in the postseason before the media and fans stop making excuses for this guy? He is arguably the greatest regular season quarterback of all-time and is a superior stat padder when the stakes are the smallest but he continues to lay egg after egg after egg when the chips are down in the postseason. Denver should be improved from last season’s team that struggled down the stretch and will be a tougher out in the playoffs but they still lack a defense that is quality enough to stop the league’s high octane offenses like New England and Indianapolis. Add that to the fact that Peyton’s offense almost always sputters when the big games begin in January and you can bet your ass that Denver will be sitting home again without hoisting any hardware this season.
2015-2016 AFC Conference Odds & Predictions – The Sleepers
Baltimore Ravens(12/1 odds at Bovada) – Head coach John Harbaugh always finds a way to get the most out of his team in January and quarterback Joe Flacco always seems to bring his “A” game when the games are the biggest. We love Baltimore’s chances of possibly winning the AFC this season as they always give New England fits in the postseason and they have the type of mentally tough team that knows how to go on the road and get things done in the postseason. Baltimore is dangerous.
Miami Dolphins(16/1 odds at Bovada) – Everyone is predicting the Buffalo Bills to be New England’s top competition in the AFC East this season and we don’t see it. Sure, Buffalo has a great defense but who is playing quarterback? Miami, on the other hand, has a very good defense plus a very good young quarterback in Ryan Tannehill. The Dolphins were almost good enough to get to the playoffs last season but we feel they’ll make that jump this season behind Tannehill and an improving defense led by new free agent signee Ndamukong Suh.
2015-2016 NFL AFC Champion Prediction: Baltimore to win at 12/1 odds over New England in the AFC Title Game.
