Minnesota Vikings at San Francisco 49ers 2010 NFL Preseason Picks Week 2: As predicted future Hall of Famer Quarterback Brett Favre is back with the Minnesota Vikings. Gone with the wind is the big preseason win the 49ers had last week against the Indianapolis Colts and all the talk is about the Man! At 40 years old he plays like a boy but is certainly the Man in the NFL, so many records it feels like baseball. It took a private jet and three homeboys from the Vikings to get him to camp, plus a few million extra in cash, but he’s back! A special thanks from John Madden and Frank Caliendo for more hilarious impressions and Brett love. The odds makers at BetUS have the San Francisco 49ers -3 point favorites at home against the Minnesota Vikings.
Four-time league MVP quarterback Peyton Manning made things look easy last Sunday: 16 plays, 10 points, but then the 49ers dropped 20 on them in the 2nd quarter to go on to win 37-17. Alex Smith, who finally played like the quarterback the 49ers were expecting when they drafted him #1 overall, was 3-of-9 for 37 yards and led the 49ers offensive unit to only two first downs. Anthony Dixon had the best day of the 49er running backs carrying 21 times for 100 yards and had a TD. Head football Coach Mike Singletary should be pleased with his defense. Vegas odds makers have the over/under for the total score at 34 1/2 points combined of the Minnesota Vikings at San Francisco 49ers.
In the Minnesota Vikings’ 28-7 preseason-opening victory Saturday night Sage Rosenfels had a rare feat, a preseason 300 yard passing game. Unfortunately with Favre back his 23 of 34 passing for 310 yards will be as meaningless as the preseason victory against the lowly St. Louis Rams. “Mentally I was going into the game thinking like it’s a full game, it’s not going to be one series or two series and out,” Rosenfels said. “I got more and more comfortable as the game went on. It’s been a while since I’ve been out there, seeing real live action. A lot of guys did a lot of good things.” Vegas odds makers have upgraded the Minnesota Vikings as +600 odds to win the 2011 Super Bowl.
All the hype is about Brett Favre’s return and playing in his first preseason game after just a few practices. I don’t see him playing long or making much of a difference. Coach Singletary on the other hand will have his players pumped up to play as usual! I pick San Francisco at home so give the points!
