NSAwins.com has posted the 2009 NFL Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year odds and vegas oddsmakers have installed Denver Running Back Knowshon Moreno(3/1 odds) and Seattle Seahawks Linebacker Aaron Curry(9/2 odds) the favorites to win the offensive and defensive ROY honors. Moreno, who was the #12 player selected overall in the 2009 NFL Draft, will be looked upon by new Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels to carry the load this season. With the departure of Jay Cutler to Chicago in the offseason and the recent suspension of Broncos star wide receiver Brandon Marashall this week, Moreno should be the focal point of the Broncos offensive attack this season. Mark Sanchez(9/2 odds), who was the #5 player selected overall in the NFL draft, was named the Jets starting quarterback this week by Jets head coach Rex Ryan. Sanchez has had his good and bad moments thus far in NFL preseason, but has the talent on offense and defense to help him lead the Jets to a possible playoff berth this season. Curry, who was the #4 player selected overall in the 2009 NFL draft, will be the starting strongside linebacker for the Seahawks this season. Curry was arguably the most talented player overall in last year’s draft and should have an excellent season playing in the revamped Seahawks defense under new head coach Jim Mora Jr. NSAwins.com’s official 2009 NFL Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year predictions are for Sanchez and Curry to win the awards. While Moreno should put up impressive numbers running in Denver, we have to give the nod to Sanchez who should help the Jets win more games than Moreno will win in Denver and that should give him the edge come voting time. Curry should easily win the Defensive ROY award, as we expect huge numbers from the stud linebacker out west.
