The Golden State Warriors enter tonight’s game with an 0-1 overall record and 0-1 against the spread. The Warriors lost their opener at home to the Houston Rockets on October 17th by a 122-121 score.
The Warriors will be looking to even up their 2017-18 record tonight without the help of one of their best players as forward Draymond Green is not expected to play. Green left the home opener against the Rockets in the 3rd quarter with a left knee injury and the Warrior had him take an MRI on it to scope the damage. The MRI came back negative but look for the Warriors to give him the night off tonight and let him rest as it makes no sense to push him back too soon this early in the season.
The Warriors will look to play for a full 48 minutes tonight as they had firm control of the game against Houston before getting outscored 34-20 in the 4th quarter to blow a 13 point lead and the game. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr expects more out of his top three players tonight as Kevin Durant(20 points), Stephen Curry(22 points) and Klay Thompson(16 points) ended up with just 58 points combined against the Rockets.
The New Orleans Pelicans enter tonight’s game 0-1 overall and 0-1 against the spread. The Pelicans lost their first game of the 2017-18 season at the Memphis Grizzlies on October 18th with a 103-91 loss as a +2 point underdog.
The Pelicans are excited about their potential this season as they begin a full year with center Demarcus Cousins playing alongside power forward Anthony Davis. The two big men give the Pelicans one of the best 1-2 combos in the league and potentially the best from the 4 and 5 positions. The two big men got off to a great start against the Grizzlies as Cousins ended up with 28 points, 10 rebounds and 7 blocks while Davis had 33 points and 18 rebounds.
