Chicago took a 3-2 lead in the best of seven series with a 95-83 victory at home on Tuesday to put thmn one win away from facing Miami in the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since 1998 when Michael Jordon and Scottie Pippen were leading the Bulls.
The Hawks are confident that they can win at home and have a “Just get to game 7” mentality because they know they would have a psychological advantage by forcing the Bulls to a win or go home situation that they are in now. The Bulls do have MVP Derrick Rose who seems to be able to score at will and one of the top defenses in the league. The Bulls don’t have a lot of playoff experience but they look to be learning as they go and getting better as the games progress. Small forward Luol Deng scored 23 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists while big Carlos Boozer added 11 points to go along with pulling down 12 boards. The Bulls defense was pivotal in the 4th quarter as well to seal the victory. Vegas odds makers have the Chicago Bulls +320 to win the 2010-2011 NBA Championship.
Guard Jeff Teague led the Hawks with 21 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists while Joe Johnson added 15 points with just 2 boards and 3 dimes. Forward Josh Smith chipped in 16 points with 7 rebounds and big Al Horford scored 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for a double double in the loss. Smith and Johnson will need more productive outings for Atlanta to stay alive. Vegas odds makers have the over/under for the total score at 178 1/2 points combined of the Atlanta Hawks and Chicago Bulls.
