2015 NBA Playoffs Free Picks and Expert Predictions – 1st Round Nets-Hawks & Spurs-Clippers Game 1 Predictions
Game 1: No. 8 Brooklyn Nets @ No. 1 Atlanta Hawks
The odds makers at Bovada Sportsbook have the #1 seeded Atlanta Hawks listed as strong -10 point favorites with the total at over/under 201 points for this Game 1 matchup scheduled for 5:35 PM EST from the Philips Arena in Atlanta on Sunday. The Hawks finished 60-22 overall in the regular season and have been the most consistent team in the East from start to finish. They take on a Brooklyn Nets team that finished 38-44 overall in the regular season and are only in the playoffs due to the fact they play in the weak Eastern Conference.
The Hawks absolutely crushed the season series between these two teams as they went a perfect 4-0 straight up with wins at home by scores of 113-102 and 131-99 as well as wins at Brooklyn by scores of 98-75 and 114-111. The Hawks will be without the services of injured guard Thabo Sefolosha for this series but we don’t feel that will matter much at all. This is a classic mismatch between a #8 seed with no business being in the Playoffs and a hungry #1 seed that many people feel overachieved and won’t come out of the East if they play #2 seed Cleveland. The Hawks will be hungry to quiet the naysayers and will roll in Game 1 and should sweep this series.

Game 1: No. 6 San Antonio Spurs @ No. 3 Los Angeles Clippers
The betting odds at Bovada for Game 1 of this exciting series has the Los Angeles Clippers listed as -1.5 point favorites with the game total at over/under 207 points. The defending NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs are the underdog to win this series despite finishing the regular season on a tear by winning 11 of their last 12 and 21 out of their last 25 games. Head coach Greg Popovich and forward Tim Duncan are hungry to win their 6th NBA Championship and have led the Spurs from afterthoughts to serious NBA Championship contenders once again over the past two months. The Spurs finished the regular season 55-27 overall and will have to get past head coach Doc Rivers and the LA Clippers who finished 56-26 in the regular season to earn home court advantage in this series.
Both of these two teams are serious NBA Title contenders and this series should be a dog fight. These two teams split the four game regular season series with San Antonio taking the first two by scores of 89-85 in Los Angeles and 125-118 in San Antonio. The Clippers returned the favor and evened up the regular season series by taking the last two games by scores of 105-85 in San Antonio and 119-115 in Los Angeles. The bad news for the Clippers is the fact that they haven’t played the Spurs since February 19th and haven’t yet gotten a taste of this rejuvenated and hungry Spurs team. These are not the same Spurs that looked lackluster for the better part of the season and the Spurs team that has been playing lights out over the past month or so is the team that should show up in these NBA Playoffs. For that reason we are taking the Spurs in Game 1 as this team is simply too good and knows how to get things done in the postseason.
