2019 O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 Odds & Predictions – Texas Motor Speedway: The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series heads to Texas Motor Speedway this weekend for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500. Sunday’s race will be the third time this season the series has visited a mile-and-a-half oval, and while we began the year with concerns about how NASCAR’s reduced-horsepower package would impact the action on the track, those concerns have been largely alleviated after the races at Atlanta and Las Vegas.
Drivers like Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano are still running up front week in and week out despite the new rules, and the powerhouse teams are still flexing their muscles. With that in mind, I think you can comfortably bet heavily on the favorites for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 and expect good results. Check out my favorite bets.

Favorites to Bet
Kyle Busch (5/2)
Not only is Busch the defending winner of this weekend’s race, but no driver has been better to start the 2019 season. He led 116 laps in his win at Texas last March, his third career win at the track, and Busch has a series-best 2.7 average finish through the first six races this year. He has already made two trips to victory lane on the season, and there’s a good chance win No. 3 will come this weekend.
Kevin Harvick (5/1)
Even though he doesn’t have a win yet in 2019, Harvick has been a force at the 1.5-mile ovals. He led 45 laps and finished fourth at Atlanta, and he led 88 laps in a fourth-place finish at Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Texas has been one of his best tracks on the schedule. Harvick has finished in the top 10 in each of the last nine races here, winning twice and finishing second on three other occasions. Last year, Harvick led 87 laps and finished second in the spring race and led 177 laps in a win in the fall.

Joey Logano (5/1)
Logano has been locked in at Texas for a while now, logging eight top-10s and six top-five finishes in the last 10 races at the track. He has one win during the stretch, and his 398 laps led are the third most of any driver. Logano has cracked the top 10 in each of the last six races at Texas, finishing third or better four times in that stretch. He already has one win at a 1.5-mile oval in 2019 after leading 86 laps and taking the checkered flag at Las Vegas, and a return to victory lane could be on tap Sunday.
Ryan Blaney (10/1)
If you are looking for a little more room for profit while still getting exposure to a high-end performer, Blaney is your guy. He has led the third-most laps in the series in 2019, and he has three straight top-five finishes heading into Texas. Speaking of Texas, Blaney has finished sixth or better in three straight starts at the track and he led 40 laps and finished second here last fall.
Big Name to Avoid
Martin Truex Jr. (7/1)
Truex has been the king of the mile-and-a-half tracks over the last couple of years, but he has never won a Cup race at Texas. Yes, he has led his share of laps, but even during his current stretch when he has cracked the top 10 in seven of the last eight races here, Truex has managed just a pair of top-five finishes. You can blame bad luck to a degree, but if I’m backing a favorite this weekend, I’d much rather bet on a driver who has proven they can seal the deal.
