2019 Indiana 250 Odds & Predictions: Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at the Brickyard

2019 Indiana 250 Odds & Predictions – Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at the Brickyard: The NASCAR XFINITY Series heads to one of the most stored tracks in all of motorsports this weekend. For just the eighth time in series history, XFINITY teams will turn laps at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Saturday’s Indiana 250.

Needless to say, the reputation of the Brickyard speaks for itself, and the chance to kiss the bricks at the start/finish line at track that has hosted some of the best drivers in auto racing for more than a century doesn’t come along often. It is sure to bring out the best in all the competitors, and it has also brought out the best driver to ever get behind the wheel in the XFINITY Series, Kyle Busch.

Having Busch in the field creates an obvious favorite, and it also skews the odds for everyone else. Instead of the top XFINITY regulars fighting for the win, they will likely be fighting to be next in line if something happens to Kyle Busch. This means that if a true longshot is going to win, Busch and a few of the dominant series regulars will all have to have issues.

As a result, it is probably not going to be worth your time to go out on the limb on drivers from smaller teams. I recommend putting a majority of your money on Busch and then placing some small bets on the top drivers from the stronger XFIINITY teams who are getting longer odds.

2019 Indiana 250 Odds & Predictions: Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at the Brickyard

The Favorite

Kyle Busch

Whenever he enters an XFINITY race, Busch immediately becomes the overwhelming favorite, and that is especially true at Indianapolis. He has three wins and a 6.5 average finish in six starts at the track, and he has led double-digit laps in all six of those races, leading more than 40 laps five times. In fact, Busch has led 312 of the 563 laps (55.4%) he has run at the Brickyard.

Value Bets

Tyler Reddick

Based on percentages alone, Reddick is one of your best bets to be in the mix for the win this weekend. In addition to his four victories in 2019, he currently leads the series with 19 top-five finishes, 21 top-10s and a 4.9 average finish. Reddick was also the runner-up at Indianapolis last year, so he knows how to get around the rectangular-shaped oval. If something happens to Kyle Busch, he should be one of the first drivers positioned to capitalize.

Justin Allgaier

My favorite alternative to Kyle Busch this weekend is Allgaier. His road course racing prowess makes him a great fit to handle the flat, sweeping corners at the Brickyard, and it shows in his results. Allgaier won this race last year in impressive fashion, starting on the front row and leading 41 laps. He has two top-five finishes in three starts here with his current JR Motorsports team, one of which came in 2016 in a field that featured the likes of Busch, Kevin Harvick and Kyle Larson. Allgaier has shown he can compete with anybody at Indy.

Chase Briscoe

He has been the model of consistency all season, and running near the front on a weekly basis has already allowed Briscoe to snatch a win at Iowa. In his Indianapolis debut last year, he was able to go from 22nd to ninth, and the top-10 finish is even more impressive when you consider that he was driving for a mediocre Roush Fenway Racing team at the time. This year, Briscoe will get to tackle the track with Stewart-Haas Racing equipment, significantly boosting his upside. Expect him to be lurking near the front Saturday.

Sleeper Special

Brandon Jones

While Jones has struggled with consistency in 2019, he has also shown a higher ceiling than at any point in his young career. He has already set a new career high for top-five finishes in a season, and he has finished seventh or better eight times. Jones has also finished in the top 10 in three of his previous starts at Indianapolis, and with his newfound upside this season, he may be able to turn a top-10 run into something even better. Driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, he also has the high-end equipment it takes to be competitive at a track like Indianapolis.
