2019 Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 Odds & Predictions – New Hampshire Motor Speedway: The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series pays a visit to New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend, and the track nicknamed “The Magic Mile” will play host to Sunday’s Foxwoods Resort Casino 301. The flat, one-mile oval can test brakes and tempers, but like at many of the flatter tracks, a few drivers tend to stand out from the pack at NHMS.
Yes, track position and pit strategy can play a factor, but with the addition of stage racing, we don’t see as many fuel mileage races as we used to. This only further tips the scales in the favor of the top flat track options, and if you are betting heavily this weekend, I recommend sticking largely to the favorites.
With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at my favorite betting options for Sunday’s Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, as well as some bigger names that I will be staying away from.
2019 Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 Odds & Predictions: New Hampshire Motor Speedway
The Favorites
Kyle Busch (5/2)
Not that it will surprise anyone, but Busch has been excellent at New Hampshire recently. He leads all drivers with eight top-10s in the last 10 races at the track, and he has six finishes of third or better in that stretch, including a pair of wins. Busch has led more than 60 laps in five of those starts, leading 90-plus laps in three of the last five New Hampshire races. If you only bet on one driver to win this weekend, your best bet is Kyle Busch.
Martin Truex Jr. (7/2)
While Truex hasn’t won at New Hampshire, he has been nothing short of dominant at the track in recent years. He has cracked the top five in each of his last three starts here, and he has led more than 80 laps in five straight races, topping 100 laps led four times. Spending that much time out front, it is only a matter of time before he parks it in victory lane.
Kevin Harvick (11/2)
Yes, he remains winless in 2019, but Harvick continues to lead a bunch of laps and run near the front. He also happens to be the defending winner of this weekend’s race, and he leads all drivers with six top-five finishes in the last eight races here. In fact, Harvick has won two of the last four races at New Hampshire. That winless streak could come to an end Sunday.
Big Names to Avoid
Joey Logano (9/1)
Logano is enjoying a strong 2019 season, but his numbers have actually been trending in the wrong direction at New Hampshire. He won the fall race here in 2016 during a run of four straight top-five finishes at the track, but he hasn’t finished better than ninth in the last four races. More importantly, Logano has gone six straight starts at New Hampshire without leading a lap. His 9/1 odds seem to be more a product of his big names and not a product of his performance at this track. I’d save your money.
Chase Elliott (12/1)
I know Elliott had a strong showing at New Hampshire last year, leading 23 laps and finishing fifth. Still, I think we need to pump the brakes just a bit. For one, last year’s top-five run was his first top-10 finish in five starts at the track. He has also been in a bit of slump heading into Sunday’s race, finishing outside the top 10 in each of his last five starts. At 12/1, I’d much rather just bet on one of the heavy favorites or go with a sleeper who has a much bigger profit margin.
