2012 Royal Purple 300 Odds, Free Picks and Predictions – Favorites and Sleepers to Win

2012 Royal Purple 300 Odds, Predictions, Betting Tips and Free Picks – Favorites and Lines to Win the 2012 Royal Purple 300:An interesting trend has been developing in the Nationwide Series this season, and it has been very profitable for bettors that have been willing to take a few risks. Last year, 28 of the 33 races were won by Cup drivers. Four races into the 2012 campaign, the Cup drivers are winless. To show how rare that is, consider that the last time the Nationwide regulars started a season by winning the first four races was 1995. As long as the Nationwide drivers keep taking down the big boys, bettors or going to have a chance to have a big year.

Of course, this weekend’s trip to Auto Club Speedway will put the streak to the test. After all, Joe Gibbs Racing has won seven straight races at ACS, with three different drivers. For the record, all three JGR drivers to contribute wins during the streak were Cup regulars, including Kyle Busch. Busch is the defending winner of this weekend’s race and has won the last three races at the track. Last year’s victory was one of the tougher ones, but Busch got around Carl Edwards and Kevin Harvick late in the race to keep the streak alive.

The Favorites – 2012 Royal Purple 300 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

Although he has yet to win at Auto Club Speedway in the Nationwide Series, Kevin Harvick has been close on numerous occasions. He has finished fourth or better in four of his last five starts at the track, including back-to-back third-place finishes. Last year, Harvick led the most laps at ACS, and it is only a matter of time before he closes the deal.

While he is definitely dealing with some growing pains in his first year as an owner/driver in the Nationwide Series, Kyle Busch’s record at Auto Club Speedway is tough to ignore. He has won three straight races at ACS and five of the last six. In his last eight starts in Fontana, Busch has finished first or second seven times.

After opening his Nationwide career at Auto Club Speedway with six straight finishes outside the top 25, Brad Keselowski has turned things around the last couple of years. He has four straight top-10 finishes at the track, including three top-five efforts. Keselowski is a much better option than his 21.6 average finish might suggest.

The Dark Horses – 2012 Royal Purple 300 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

The last time the Nationwide Series visited a larger oval this season, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. delivered a dominating victory. He also finished a career-best fourth at Auto Club Speedway last year. Given Stenhouse’s track record at larger ovals and his strong showing at ACS last season, he could definitely continue to trend of Nationwide winners this season.

While his fifth-place finish at Auto Club Speedway makes him worthy of consideration this weekend, Elliott Sadler’s momentum is what is impossible to overlook. He has opened the year by winning two of the first four races, including last weekend’s race at Bristol. Sadler is the hottest driver in the series, and he is looking like a frontrunner to win the series title and plenty of more races.

Sleeper Specials – 2012 Royal Purple 300 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

Trevor Bayne has been steadily improving at Auto Club Speedway, notching a career-best sixth-place finish at the track last season after a pair of 11th-place finishes in 2010. Not to mention the fact that he is essentially racing for his job. Bayne needs to finish well to continue to attract sponsorship, and so far, he has responded by climbing to third in the standings.

Nationwide rookie Austin Dillon has definitely exceeded expectations in his first full year in the series. He is fourth in the standings and has finished in the top 10 in three of his four starts this season. Dillon is looking every bit like the future star he has been tabbed to be, and he is going to win races sooner rather than later,

Drivers to Avoid – 2012 Royal Purple 300 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks

Although he has never finished lower than 16th in five career Nationwide starts at Auto Club Speedway, but Justin Allgaier has never finished better than eighth either. More importantly, bouncing from team to team appears to be taking its toll on the young driver. After being on the short list of title contenders the last few years, he is only ninth in points in 2012. Allgaier just isn’t showing the same strength he has in past seasons.

She is slowly improving and getting comfortable in the Nationwide Series, but Danica Patrick has been awful in two previous starts at Auto Club Speedway. She has finished 30th and 31st in her two starts at the track, and needless to say, Patrick has a long way to go before she is contending for a win in Fontana.
