For the Cup Series drivers doing double duty this weekend, it is going to be a long one. They have 900 miles of racing in front of them between Saturday’s 300-mile Nationwide event and Sunday’s 600-mile. Last year’s race was an epic duel between three of NASCAR’s heavyweights. Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch all led 40-plus laps, and all three exchanged the lead throughout the night. Edwards led a race-high 63 laps, but in the end, it was his teammate Kenseth that came out on top.
In the fall event, Brad Keselowski had the car to beat, and he led 119 of the 200 laps. However, Edwards and Busch once again moved to the front of the field at crunch time. Ironically, Edwards ended up winning the race despite leading just five laps, giving Roush Fenway Racing the season sweep at Charlotte.

No driver has dominated Charlotte in the Nationwide Series quite like Kyle Busch. He has a 6.6 career average finish, along with six victories. Busch has finished eighth or better in his last 10 starts at the track, finishing third or better eight times during the stretch. No driver in the field this weekend has more wins or a better average finish at Charlotte than Busch.
He has been on a roll at Charlotte lately, and Brad Keselowski should continue the hot streak this weekend. He has finished eighth or better in his last eight starts at the track, and he won the fall event in 2010. Keselowski has finished sixth or better in his last five starts at the track, and should be at the front of the field once again Saturday night.
The Dark Horses – 2012 History 300 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks
Coming off his third win of the year, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has established himself as the frontrunner of the 2012 series title. He is a threat to win almost every week, and after finishing fourth and ninth at Charlotte last season, Stenhouse could easily add another win to his total Saturday night. He is on track to be the next star in NASCAR.
The wins have been piling up for Joey Logano in the Nationwide Series lately. He has a 10.0 average finish in seven career starts at the track, including five top-15 finishes. Logano has yet to win at Charlotte, but he does have three top-five finishes. He is also tied for the series lead with three victories in 2012, and he has a good chance to grab the outright lead this weekend at a track where his Joe Gibbs Racing team has dominated in the past.

When Elliott Sadler returned to the Nationwide Series last year, he returned to Charlotte with a bang. He finished 10th in the May event, and he followed it up with a fourth-place run in the fall. Sadler has finished as high as second at the track in his career, and he should be in the mix for the win this weekend.
Just Allgaier hasn’t had a big season, but he has had a lot of success at Charlotte in the past. He has six straight top-15 finishes at the track, including three finishes of seventh or better in his last four starts. Allgaier has finished as high as third at Charlotte, and if he is going to break out of his slump, it could happen this weekend.

Since winning a Nationwide race at Charlotte, Kasey Kahne has managed just a single top-10 finish in his last seven starts at the track. Worse yet, he has failed to crack the top 20 in his last three starts at, including finishes of 22nd and 28th in two starts last year. Kahne just doesn’t seem to have the same feel for the Nationwide cars as he does for the Cup cars at Charlotte.
