2011 Nationwide Nashville 300 Vegas Odds, Free Picks and Predictions – Favorites and Drivers to Bet On: While the Cup Series teams take a week off, the Nationwide Series visits Nashville Superspeedway. The 1.33-mile oval is a non-companion track, and since the Cup drivers don’t see regular action at Nashville, the possibility of an upset winner exists. Although some Cup drivers choose to make the trip on the off weekend, there are less big names in the field. While these experienced drivers still have an edge, every up and coming driver knows this weekend’s race is one of their best chances to cash in.
Last April, Joey Logano appeared to have the car to beat. He led a race-high 122 laps, but a late pit road penalty knocked him out of contention. Kevin Harvick took advantage holding off Reed Sorenson and Kyle Busch for the win. Despite leading the most laps, Logano settled for a disappointing eighth-place finish.
In the June race, then rookie Justin Allgaier appeared poised to grab his second-career series victory. However, a late caution brought the field back together, and he was unable to hold off his teammate Brad Keselowski on the final restart. Keselowski muscled his way by his Penske Racing partner and held off Carl Edwards for the win.
The Favorites
It is a pretty safe bet that Carl Edwards will be in the mix for a win this Saturday. In 11 starts at Nashville, he has compiled an amazing 4.0 average finish. Edwards is a three-time winner at the track, and he has finished sixth or better in 10 of his 11 starts. In short, bettors that like to back the favorites should put some cash down on Edwards this weekend.
In the last six races at Nashville, Brad Keselowski has been as good as any driver in the series. He has finished in the top-five in all six starts, picking up a pairs of wins along the way. Keselowski won at the track last June after leading the most laps, and he could very well make it two in a row Saturday.
After struggling a little bit at Nashville, Kyle Busch has turned it on in his last three starts. Including his win in 2009, he has finished third or better in all three outings. Busch has four wins already in 2011, and bettors should never rule him out regardless of the track. He is going to go down as the top Nationwide driver of all-time for a reason.
The Dark Horses
He will team with Rusty Wallace Racing this weekend, and David Reutimann could be a real threat to get to Victory Lane. He has five straight top-10 finishes at Nashville, including a pair of top-three efforts. Reutimann isn’t the biggest name in the field, but he could end up being the best.
If not for his penalty last April, Joey Logano might be the favorite to win this weekend’s race. He won the April event in 2009 and led the most laps in last year’s race before the penalty. Logano won’t be able to deliver an April three-peat this weekend, but two out of three isn’t bad.
Sleepers Specials
A late race restart cost him a victory at Nashville last June, but there is good reason to believe Justin Allgaier will be back in the mix this weekend. He finished fourth in both races at the track in 2010, and he was a caution away from winning the June race. With another year of experience under his belt, Allgaier could pull the upset this weekend.
Not only has Reed Sorenson won at Nashville in his career, but he has made a habit of running near the front as well. He has four top-10 finishes in six starts, and last June, he finished second. Sorenson is in the thick of the title hunt in the series, and his best chances to win come in the non-companion events.
Big Names to Avoid
In three starts at Nashville, Trevor Bayne has yet to finish in the top-10. He has finished outside the top-25 in two of those starts, and his 24.0 average finish is anything but inviting to bettors. Bayne has a lot of strengths for a young driver, but the tight sweeping corners at Nashville seem to have him puzzled.
A wreck at Talladega cost Ricky Stenhouse Jr. the point lead, and his bad luck could continue this weekend. He has a dismal 28.7 average finish in three starts at Nashville, and Stenhouse has yet to finish inside the top-20.
