2011 NASCAR All-Star Race Odds, Predictions and Free Picks – Favorites to Win and Drivers Lines

2011 NASCAR All-Star Race Odds, Predictions and Free Picks – Favorites and Drivers Lines to Win NASCAR All-Star Race:NASCAR betting odds to win the 2011 NASCAR All-Star Race this Saturday, May 21st at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina have been posted at all the major Las Vegas and online sportsbooks and Kyle Busch has been installed as the +500 favorite to win the 2011 NASCAR All-Star Race. The Sprint Cup Series All-Star Race is arguably the most exciting All-Star event in professional sports. No points are on the line, but $1 million awaits the winner while everyone else goes home empty handed. When you put the best drivers in the series in a shootout-style race with nothing lose and a $1 million at stake, you can imagine the action that results. Needless to say, anything can happen in this weekend’s race.

Last year, Kurt Busch came out of nowhere to capture his first win in the event. In fact, it was his first win at Charlotte Motor Speedway of any kind. Pre-race favorites Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch dominated most of the night, but a little pit strategy put Kurt out in front for the final run to the finish. With the clean air, Busch’s No. 2 machine came to life. He not only held on to win the race, he pulled away from the field.

The Favorites

He has won the All-Star event in the past, but more importantly, Jimmie Johnson has been dominant at Charlotte Motor Speedway where the race is held. He is a six-time winner at the track during the regular season and averages a top-10 finish for his career. Johnson actually led the most laps in last year’s All-Star event, but poor pit strategy cost him a shot at the win.

It is only a matter of time before Kyle Busch gets a win at Charlotte Motor Speedway at the Cup level. Close calls in the All-Star Race and the regular season events at the track have become a theme for Busch. He has finished eighth or better in seven straight starts at the track, including four top-three finishes.

The Dark Horses

He has quietly managed to win a pair of races in 2011, and Matt Kenseth already has multiple victories at Charlotte Motor Speedway to his credit during his career. Kenseth has won the All-Star event in the past as well, and he finished second in the race as recently as 2009. He has finished in the top-10 in his last four starts at Charlotte, and he has some momentum on his side after his win at Dover last weekend.

Not only did Kurt Busch win the All-Star Race last season, but he went on to win the Coca-Cola 600 the next weekend as well. Since both races are held at Charlotte Motor Speedway, it is tough to count out Busch this weekend. If he weren’t slumping coming into the race, he would be a favorite based on last year’s performance.

Sleepers Specials

David Reutimann has only won two races in his Cup Series career, but one of those came at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He has gone on to show the victory was no fluke, and Reutimann notched a pair of top-10 finishes at the track last season. Reutimann has proven he can hang with the big names at Charlotte, and there is no reason he can’t do the same this weekend.

His surprising win at Darlington earned him a spot in the All-Star Race, and Regan Smith is more than capable of taking advantage of it. He finished in the top-20 in both races at Charlotte last season, including a career-best 13th-place run in the fall. Smith has been steadily improving at the track, and he has plenty of confidence on his side. Don’t rule out another huge upset from the No. 78 bunch.

Big Names to Avoid

For all the winning he has done the last two years, success at Charlotte has eluded Denny Hamlin. In 11 career starts at the track, he has just a single top-five finish, along with a rather mediocre 17.2 average finish. Hamlin made major strides at the 1.5-mile tracks last year, but Charlotte remains one of his trouble spots.

He has finished as high as second at Charlotte, but Clint Bowyer has been mainly unimpressive at Charlotte. He has just the one top-five finish and only three top-10s in 10 career starts. Bowyer is normally one of the most consistent options at any track, but his 17.6 average finish says otherwise.
