2011 Geico 400Odds, Predictions, Betting Tips and Free Picks – Favorites and Lines to Win Geico 400 at Chicagoland Speedway: NASCAR betting odds to win the 2011 Geico 400 this Sunday, September 18th at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois have been posted at all the major Las Vegas and best online sportsbooks with Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch having been installed as the +800 favorites to win the 2011 Geico 400.
From here on out, there won’t be anything that comes easy for any driver in the Cup Series. When the playoffs begin this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway, there will be a little more pressure on every driver on the track. The 12 drivers in the Chase will be focused on winning a championship, while the rest of the field will be focused on building momentum for next season and trying to avoid making the mistake that costs someone a shot at the title.
Although Chicagoland wasn’t part of the playoff schedule a year ago, it did play host to an exciting race. After problems sidelined dropped the dominant car of Jimmie Johnson out of contention, it appeared Jeff Gordon had the win in the bag. However, David Reutimann emerged as a surprise contender, and he caught and eventually wrestled the lead away from Gordon. Reutimann would go on to win his second career Cup race and his first at Chicagoland.
The Favorites – 2011 Geico 400 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks
Former Chicagoland winner Jeff Gordon has been one of the most consistent drivers at the track. In fact, his 8.6 average finish is the best in the series. Gordon has six top-five finishes in 10 career starts at the track, including finishes of second and third in his last two outings. Gordon has three wins already in 2011, and he could add another this weekend.
A trip to Chicagoland could be just what Tony Stewart needs to jumpstart his 2011 season. He is a two-time winner at the track, and his 9.5 average finish is the third best among active drivers. In 10 career starts at Chicagoland Stewart has amassed seven top-five finishes and eight top-10s, including four straight. He may not be winless after this weekend.
Although Jimmie Johnson has never won at Chicagoland, he has never raced at the track during the playoffs either. No driver has won more races during the Chase than Johnson, and no driver even has half as many wins. Throw in the fact that he has finished in the top 10 in seven of his nine starts at Chicagoland, and it wouldn’t exactly be a shock to see him in Victory Lane this weekend.
The Dark Horses – 2011 Geico 400 Lines, Preview and Expert Picks
Kevin Harvick has made 10 starts at Chicagoland, and he has finished fourth or better in half of them. He is also one of only two drivers with multiple wins at the track. Harvick is riding a wave of momentum after picking up his fourth win of the season last weekend at Richmond, and more good things could be in store this Sunday.
Considering he is the defending race winner, it is tough to count out David Reutimann this weekend. He has three straight top-15 finishes at the track, including the victory last season. Reutimann is anything but consistent, but both of his career wins have come at 1.5-mile tracks. He already has a second-place finish at a similar track in 2011, and he could deliver another shocker.
Sleepers Specials – 2011 Geico 400 Vegas Odds, Expert Predictions and Free Picks
With all the first-time winners in 2011, A.J. Allmendinger seems like the next logical choice to join the list. He has been running well since making a crew chief change, and he has never finished outside the top 15 in three starts at Chicagoland. Allmendinger is a good candidate to make the jump from contender to race winner this weekend.
He has been struggling in 2011, but Chicagoland has always been kind to Brian Vickers. In fact, his 8.8 average finish at the track is the second best in the series. Vickers has never finished outside the top 15 in five career starts, picking up three top-10 finishes. He has finished sixth and seventh in his last two starts at the track.
Big Names to Avoid – 2011 Geico 400 Betting Odds, Predictions and Free NASCAR Picks
Although Kurt Busch has had some solid runs at Chicagoland, it has never been one of his best tracks. He has yet to record a top-five finish in 10 career starts, and he has been unable to crack the top 15 in his last three outings. Busch’s 18.1 average finish is less than intimidating.
Not only is he struggling in 2011, but Greg Biffle has never had much luck at Chicagoland. He has just a single top-10 finish in eight career starts at the track, and in his last two starts, he has finished outside the top 30.
