2011 Bucyrus 200 Odds, Picks and Predictions – Favorites to Win and Drivers to Watch

2011 Bucyrus 200 Vegas Odds, Free Picks and Predictions – Favorites and Drivers to Bet On: There isn’t a lot of data to go by when it comes to predicting this weekend’s race at Road America. After all, the 14-turn road course in Wisconsin has only been part of the Nationwide Series schedule for one year. With the follow-up to the inaugural event scheduled for Saturday, both drivers and bettors are still trying to get familiar the massive 4.05-mile course. If there were ever conditions ripe for an upset, this weekend’s race is it.

Last year, Carl Edwards was the biggest name in the field, and he lived up to his reputation. After winning the pole for the race, and he led 35 of the 50 laps on his way to the victory. Road course veteran Ron Fellows made the most of one of his rare Nationwide starts, finishing a solid second.

2011 Bucyrus 200 – The Favorites

He is back to defend his victory, and Carl Edwards is once again the biggest name in the field. There is no question he is the most-proven and most-talented driver in this weekend’s race, and he has to be considered the favorite. Edwards could easily make it two-for-two at the Nationwide Series’ newest addition to the schedule.

The only driver that could even come close to hanging with Carl Edwards at Road America last year was Ron Fellows. The Canadian road racing ace will try his luck again this weekend, and he should be a factor for the win. Fellows has multiple road course wins in the Nationwide Series, and he is as experienced and as skilled as they come as far as road racing is concerned.

2011 Bucyrus 200 – The Dark Horses

Although he hasn’t been able to cash in and win a race yet in 2011, Elliott Sadler has been a top five machine. Considering all his success at road racing at the Cup level, it stands to reason that he should be a contender at the Nationwide level as well. More importantly, Sadler isn’t going to be intimidated by the aura of Carl Edwards. The two have battled for years in the Cup Series.

He came within a bumper of winning at the road course in Montreal last season, and Max Papis will be driving the same No. 33 machine that nearly put him in Victory Lane. Papis is a road racing veteran, and even though he is making his first start at Road America, he could easily be a factor for the win.

2011 Bucyrus 200 – Sleepers Specials

Although he has accomplished a lot in his racing career, Jacques Villeneuve is still trying to prove himself in NASCAR. He has a golden opportunity to do just that this weekend when he gets to drive the Penske Racing No. 22 machine – the car that won the series title a year ago. Villeneuve has plenty of road racing experience, and he certainly has good enough equipment to compete at Road America.

Last season, J.R. Fitzpatrick proved he can race against the big boys, finishing seventh in his start at Road America. He will try to improve on that result this season when he makes a start for Rusty Wallace Racing. Fitzpatrick is a longshot for sure, but he is a road racing ace with quality equipment, and that makes him dangerous.

2011 Bucyrus 200 – Big Names to Avoid

There is a good chance Ricky Stenhouse Jr. could end up winning the series title, but this weekend’s trip to Road America could be tough for him. He struggled to a 26th-place finish in last year’s event, and he doesn’t have a background in road racing. Stenhouse Jr. is inexperienced in the Nationwide Series in general, and his road course skills are suspect at best.

He will be driving the always strong Joe Gibbs Racing No. 18 machine, but that alone won’t make Michael McDowell a contender for the win. He has been in and out of cars for the last two seasons, and it is going to be tough for him to suddenly adjust to having elite equipment and win a race.
