A promising sign of hope is the emergence of Jake Peavy onto the scene, who is looking more and more like the dominant pitcher he was when he took the mound for the Padres two seasons ago. With him and Buehrle forming a formidable duo, Guillen can now mix and match other arms on a rotating basis. One of those arms is Phillip Humber who will take the mound for the White Sox tonight looking for his 4th win on the season. Humber has pitched 52.1 innings already this year, which has garnered him a 3.10 ERA and a 3-3 record. Stats that are nothing to snub and it looks as though Guillen will stick with Humber in the 3 spot on the Chi Sox’s pitching rotation.
The Toronto Blue Jays don’t need anyone else to tell them that they are beating themselves. The Jays have allowed 7-9 games this year slip out of their hands by over playing balls, getting too fancy on the mound, and mental break downs. Toronto boasts and extremely powerful baseball club, a club that can certainly compete and fight for the AL East crown. Yet, for all of this talent and skill, they do not know how to be a successful baseball team at this point. One common dominator of all successful teams is that they know how to win close games and not give away close games. Toronto could very well be in the driver’s seat of the AL East if it were not for their ineptness in the clutch. Case in point in New York on Tuesday night, they coughed up a victory in the bottom of the ninth inning. The loss was the result of mental breakdowns on the mound and overzealous fielding. The Jays need to learn how to harness their talents into consistent outings before they can even be considered for legitimacy.

Toronto is 4-1 SU in their last 5 games when playing Chi White Sox and is 12-2 SU in their last 14 games when playing at home against the men from the windy city.
