They are absolutely atrocious this season and have found themselves 15 games out of the AL Central lead. There isn’t one particular area of ineptness with this club, but rather the entire club is faltering and many insiders believe that the combination of Mauer and Morneau might finally be broken up before seasons end. The pitching rotation is the worst in the league and teams are having field days with this old and weary bunch. Give credit to the management and key personnel for the Twins, they have given a vote of confidence to the entire team and believe that they will be able to ride out this early season of ineptness. The club is already calling on their un-weathered talent in the minors, but to no avail. There is virtually no one that is taking this club on his back in any kind of capacity and the leadership factor is lacking.

The K.C. Royals have cooled off since their torrid start to the year, but they still are not the Royals of past. They are consistently putting forth solid and competitive outings on the ball field and no longer are being pushed over. The main difference this season is the rise in legitimacy for the young Royals pitching staff. The maturation of the entire list of Royals pitchers has been a storyline ever since the opening week of the season and they are in the upper echelon in the league as far as quality outings go. No longer are they being torched for double digit run totals in games, but rather, they are consistently holding teams to tight, knit affairs in which the Royals offense has every chance to seek victory late in games. If the K.C. Royals can figure out a way to get their offense going on a consistent basis then the season is not lost and they will have every chance to be in the running come late September. October ball has been a long time coming in the state Missouri but this young, skillful club is not too far away.
