The Brewers have absolutely dismantled their June schedule and have catapulted to the penthouse of the NL Central ranks. The story behind their rise to legitimacy has been consistent pitching and solid offensive outings. Often criticized for there inconsistent and sporadic play, the Milwaukee Brewers have settled themselves into a nice groove and rarely have off nights. Also working in the Brewers favor is the loss of Albert Pujols for the Cardinals, St. Louis will be hard pressed to keep up with the Brewers at the current pace that is being set by Milwaukee. The Brewers will trot out the rekindled Zach Greinke to the mound for the first game with the Yankees tonight in what should be a spirited series. Greinke, who many thought may have peaked early, has found his game once again in the state of Wisconsin and will be gunning for his eighth victory of the season Tuesday night. His fastball is once again live and he is receiving great sink to his breaking ball, all great signs that point to him returning to legitimacy. For the Brewers to have a legitimate shot at October ball and a possible World Series birth, Greinke must stay consistent and rekindle the game he had three years ago.

The New York Yankees might be the best club in baseball right now not named the Brewers. The absence of SS Derek Jeter has not been as significant as first thought and Eduardo Nunez has filled in quite admirably. News broke today that Jeter is attending batting practice and taking routine ground balls, he may just be a couple of weeks away at this point. With 6 hits to go, Jeter will make baseball history this season and will further stamp his spot in Cooperstown. The New York Yankees are coming off of a fairly dominant weekend series against the Colorado Rockies, a series that saw them take two games and bat in 16 runs. New York will most likely be battling it out with their counterpart in the Red Sox for the AL East crown in the latter half of the season. The Yankees might be in the market for a true designated hitter when the trading deadline creeps a little closer. Jorge Posada’s age might finally be showing up on the field and his productivity is surely lacking. A player like Adam Lind of the Blue Jays or Hanley Ramirez of the Marlins would be an excellent acquisition for baseballs most storied franchise.

In Tuesday nights affair, the complimentary selection will be the New York Yankees at home. New York will place southpaw Freddie Garcia on the mound tonight, he will be looking for his 7th win on the season. Garcia owns a 6-6 record, with an impressive 3.30 ERA and 55 strikeouts. Garcia has been consistently improving and becoming more daunting on the mound with each start, he is molding himself into a top notch major league prospect. The Brewers have been having an awful difficult time with AL East opponents thus far this season, they already posses a 2-4 record against the highly competitive division. When Zach Greinke was a member of the American League with the Royals he had his share of issues with the Yankees and I expect those problems to arise again in the Bronx. We will consider the Yankees staying atop the AL East with a hardly fought victory tonight. Cheers!
