2017 Free Sunday Night MLB Picks – Texas Rangers @ Detroit Tigers Odds & Predictions: The Texas Rangers have been the hottest team in baseball the past two weeks as they reeled off 10 wins in a row before Saturday’s 9-3 setback to the Tigers in the Motor City. The Rangers look to bounce back tonight in Detroit against the Tigers when these two American League squads wrap up their three game series on Sunday Night ESPN Baseball. First pitch is scheduled tonight at 8:05 PM EST.
The Texas Rangers enter tonight’s game with an overall record of 23-21 and 6 games back behind the first place Houston Astros in the American League West Division. However, Rangers skipper Jeff Bannister has to be feeling good about his team at the moment as they started the season 13-20 and looked as if they would be completely out of the race in the AL West by Memorial Day. The Rangers have turned it around big time over the past two weeks and look to keep it going tonight when they send out red hot Yu Darvish(4-2, 2.76 ERA) to the hill.
Darvish takes the ball tonight and looks to keep his great 2017 season going in primetime in front of a national audience. Darvish has been a true ace this season and has pitched six or more innings in every one of his nine starts except one. Darvish has regained the form that made him one of the game’s best pitchers before missing the entire 2015 season after needing Tommy John surgery. Darvish returned in 2016 but only pitched 100.1 innings and has already tossed 58.2 innings in the 2017 season proving that he is all the way back as a frontline ace.
The Tigers take the field in front of their home crowd tonight with a 21-20 overall record. The Tigers are only 1.5 games behind the Cleveland Indians in the AL Central Division despite going just 5-5 over the past 10 games and having giving up 210 runs to 204 runs scored so far this season. The Tigers will need some good run support tonight as they trot out their 5th starter in Matthew Boyd(2-3, 5.18 ERA). Boyd, quite frankly, is flat out terrible and is coming off of a horrific outing that saw him 7 runs on 8 hits against Baltimore in a game he couldn’t even navigate out of the 3rd inning. The guy is brutal, folks.
Who do we like tonight? No brainer. Our money is going on the hotter club with the far superior pitcher taking the hill in Darvish. Frankly, the -120 moneyline on the game is a joke and should be more like -145 to -150. Play Texas on the moneyline -120 and count that cash later tonight.
Prediction: Bet on Texas Rangers to win at -120 odds.
