2015 MLB Picks & Predictions – AL/NL Cy Young Award Odds and Expert Picks to Win: The 2015 MLB Baseball season is a just a couple weeks away and the odds makers in Las Vegas as well as online at Bovada Sportsbook have released the 2015 AL Cy Young Award odds and 2015 NL Cy Young Award odds for the pitchers in each circuit that are most likely to win the awards this season. The favorite to win the 2015 AL Cy Young Award is Felix Hernandez from the Seattle Mariners at 13/5 odds and the favorite to win the 2015 NL Cy Young Award is Clayton Kershaw from the Los Angeles Dodgers at 1/1 odds.
The American League Cy Young Award is really up for grabs this season in our opinion as there is not one guy that is absolutely a lock to run away and hide from the rest. Hernandez won the AL Cy Young Award in 2010 and finished 2nd in the voting last season so he is absolutely a deserving favorite to win the award this season. The 28 year-old 6-3, 225 pound right hander is a big reason why fans in the Pacific Northwest are excited for Seattle’s chances to make the playoffs this season and he looks to improve upon his 2014 campaign that saw him go 15-6 with an American League best 2.14 ERA.
Another player with strong odds to win the 2015 AL Cy Young Award is last season’s AL CY winner Corey Kluber at 4/1 odds. The 28 year-old 6-4 215 pound right hander from the Cleveland Indians was a deserving winner last season when he put up a 18-9 record with a 2.44 ERA for the Tribe. Kluber started a league leading 34 games last season and tossed 235.2 innings for Terry Francona’s Indians. The Tribe will probably want to cut some of those innings down this season and hopefully save his arm for the postseason but it’s a good bet that Kluber will easily toss 200 plus innings and start 30 plus games for Cleveland if he stays healthy.
The National League Cy Young Award is a little easier to bet if you like betting on the chalk. We say that because Clayton Kershaw has simply been far and away the best regular season pitcher in all of Major League Baseball the last four years. The Los Angeles Dodgers 27 year-old left hander has won the NL Cy Young Award three of the last four years(2011, 2013, 2014) and also pitched at a level so amazing last season that he won the 2014 NL MVP Award. Kershaw finished last season with a 21-3 overall record and a Major League best 1.77 ERA. It would be foolish to believe that Kershaw won’t again put up big time numbers this season as he enters his prime at only 27.
Another top player with strong odds to win the 2015 NL Cy Young Award is Washington Nationals right hander Max Scherzer. The 30 year-old flame thrower signed with the Nationals in free agency after pitching in the AL for the Detroit Tigers the last five seasons. The 6-3 220 pounder won the 2013 AL Cy Young Award and came back last season and finished with a 18-5 record and 3.15 ERA. Now that he is back in the National League after starting a combined 37 games for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2008-2009 to start his career, we expect Scherzer to improve upon his AL numbers with him being able to go thru lineups without the designated hitter.
Our expert MLB Baseball handicapper Sonny LaFouchi(aka The Legend) has made his 2015 MLB predictions for the 2015 AL Cy Young and NL Cy Young awards and he is picking Chris Sale to win the AL Cy Young Award at 5/1 odds and Clayton Kershaw to win the NL Cy Young Award at 11/1 odds.
