Free Football Picks from FSR Blog Writer David E(AKA “The Pigskin Guy”)
Solid week last week going 2-1 67% on my 3 College Football picks and 5-2 71% on my NFL picks. I really like this week’s board so let’s try and see if we can make some more green stuff this weekend on the NCAA and NFL games. Please note that I am NOT affiliated with NSAwins.com’s professional handicapping service and am just a contributor for the “FINAL SCORE REPORT” blog on NSAwins.com. Let’s get to it…
2009 NCAA Football Record: 2-1 67%

THE PIGSKIN GUY’s College Football Free Picks for Saturday, September 19, 2009
Oklahoma -17.5 – It will be reality check time this saturday for Tulsa. They’ve dominated Tulane and New Mexico by a combined 81-23 margin, but it’s a big jump up this week at Norman to take on the Sooners. The Sooners are still without Sam Bradford, but they didn’t skip a beat last week winning 64-0 vs Idaho St. The Sooners defense should shut down the high-powered attack of Tulsa and win this game going away by 4 plus touchdowns.
Florida St +8.5 – FSU lost a heartbreaker to Miami in it’s opener, but we learned last night that the Canes can truly play when they dominated #13 Ga Tech. Don’t be surprised if the Noles win this game outright, as their overall team speed and hunger for a win to erase the bad taste of that Canes loss will really give them an edge on saturday vs a BYU team that is overrated in my eyes.
Rice @ Oklahoma St OVER 66.5 – Rice’s defense has been nothing short of BRUTAL so far in 2009. They gave up 55 last week at Texas Tech and 44 at UAB in their opener. They are giving up 538 total yards a game on defense. That’s atrocious. OSU meanwhile should be foaming at the mouth after losing last saturday at home to Houston. The Cowboys offense should be riding high this week and a 60 spot is possible. Look for this one to go over with ease.

Patriots -3.5 – The Jets have been running their mouths all offseason and this week about New England. And for what? Are we suppossed to be impressed because the Jets dominated the Texans? Puhleaze. They barked up the wrong tree when Jets safety Kerry Rhodes said they want to not only win but “embarass” the Pats this sunday. LOL, is this guy for real? It will be the Patriots that will be embrassing the Jets and not the other way around. The Pats roll.
Detroit +10 – Call me crazy, but I think the Lions not only cover but win this game outright on sunday. Yes, that’s right… OUTRIGHT. I’ll take the points for insurance though. Listen, the Lions gave up 45 to the Saints last week in New Orleans but the Saints have Drew Brees. The Vikes have old man Brett Favre. Big difference. I know Peterson will probably have a big day, but the Lions offense is not that bad and can score against a Vikings defense that is far from elite. The Lions are due for a win and I think they pull off the upset.
Buffalo -5 – The Bills played really well up in New England monday night. They should have won. However, don’t expect them to leave anything to chance this sunday in their home opener against an AWFUL Bucs team. The Bills are a true “sleeper” team to make an AFC playoff push this season and they’ll get on the right track this sunday with a double digit win over Tampa.
San Diego -3 – Both teams had their hands full last sunday with the woeful Chiefs and Raiders. Expect better efforts from both clubs this sunday, but I look for the Chargers to get it done by at least a TD. It’s San Diego’s home opener and the Ravens will have to overcome the long flight, heat, and amped up opening day crowd in this one. That should be enough for a more talented San Diego team to get the cover.
Jacksonville -3.5 – This is more of a play against Arizona than on Jacksonville. Arizona has really looked bad in the preseason and last week in it’s home loss to the 49ers. Jacksonville, meanwhile, really played well up in Indy and the defense held it’s own versus Peyton Manning. Having already played Peyton, don’t expect the Jags to be overwhelmed going up against Kurt Warner. The Jags should get it done against an Arizona team that is a mess.

Miami +3 – I know Miami looked like garbage last sunday in a 19-7 loss at Atlanta, but I think that was more of a blip on the radar screen than a sign of things to come. I’m not saying Miami will be great or contend for the AFC Championship, but I do think they are still a true AFC playoff contender and will be a tough team to face on monday night this week in it’s home opener. The Colts struggled last week at home vs Jacksonville and I think their struggles will continue this monday versus a quality Miami team in the heat down in South Florida.
