Week 4 College Football Power Rankings from NSAwins.com – Florida St Back in at #17

NSAwins.com has posted it’s Week 4 College Football Power Rankings for the 2009 season. The following rankings are compiled by taking the Top 25 votes sent to us from NSAwins.com’s Sports Handicapping Experts(The LEGEND, Gerry “BIG CAT” Andino, Lou Panelli, Steve “SCOOP” Kendall, and William E. Stockton), as well as from NSAwins.com’s “FINAL SCORE REPORT” blog’s founders and contributing authors(Stephen G. and David E.). These rankings will be updated every monday throughout the College Football regular season and after the completion of the Bowl Season. Please keep in mind that these power rankings are based on current records and performances and not a prediction on how we think teams will end up at the end of the season or how two teams would fare if they played one another. Below is the Week 4 College Football Top 25 power rankings from NSAwins.com.

NSAwins.com’s Week 4 College Football Top 25

This Week’s “SUPER 15″(Teams Ranked 1-15 in NSAwins.com’s Poll)

NOTE: ALL Records thru September 20, 2009
RK(LW), TEAM, RECORD
#1(1) Florida Gators 3-0 The Gators were surprisingly held to just 23 points saturday in a 23-13 win vs Tennessee in the Swamp. Certainly not the blood bath that you know Urbie wanted to embarass UT coach Lane Kiffin for running his mouth all offseason.
#2(2) – Texas Longhorns 3-0 We expected more from Texas this past saturday. We know a 34-24 win over Texas Tech is nothing to cry about. However, we are 3 games deep into the season and Texas has yet to display the dominance that we expected from this team with all their talent. We are waiting for Mack Brown’s boys to put it all together down in Austin. The Horns are a money burning 0-3 ATS so far for all their vegas backers.
#3(3) – LSU Tigers 3-0 We keep telling anyone who will listen that the Tigers are a monster in waiting, but apparently the rest of the nation isn’t sold yet as the Tigers still aren’t ranked in the Top 5 of either the AP or USA Today polls. The Tigers got bashed by some for only winning 31-23 at Washington, but how’s that win looking now after the Huskies took down USC this past saturday? Wake up America… the Tigers are the REAL DEAL in 2009. Circle Oct 10 on your calendar, as the Tigers face Florida at 8PM EST under the lights at Tiger Stadium. College Football doesn’t get any better than that!
#4(5) – Alabama Crimson Tide 3-0 Nick Saban’s crew is rolling down in Tuscaloosa. Another impressive 53-7 blowout win this past saturday versus North Texas. The Tide’s offense has looked really good so far this season and that bodes well for the Tide’s SEC and National Championship hopes down the line. The Tide should not overlook Arkansas this week, however, as the Razorbacks come in as +15.5 dogs after losing at home to Georgia 52-41 but should give Alabama a good test this saturday.
#5(6) – Oklahoma Sooners 2-1 The fact that teams like Cal, Penn St, and Ole Miss are ranked ahead of LSU and Oklahoma in the AP and USA Today polls is a joke. We told everyone to calm down after OU lost to BYU 14-13 in it’s opener and guess what? The Sooners are roilling again in Norman after crushing Idaho St 64-0 and Tulsa 45-0. This team is Top 5 people. Sam Bradford is throwing again this week and the Sooners national title hopes are still alive and well.
#6(7) – TCU Horned Frogs 2-0 We are higher on the Frogs than virtually everyone. However, we are sticking to our guns that TCU will run the table in 2009. Their biggest obstacle, in our opinion, comes this week with a tough road game at Clemson. If TCU can get by Clemson, than the only two games they will have left to fear are at BYU(Oct 24) and at home versus Utah(Nov 14).
#7(9) – Ohio St Buckeyes 2-1 Forget about Penn St and Michigan people, the Buckeyes are still the class of the Big 10. The Buckeyes bounced back nicely from their crushing 18-15 home loss to USC to pound Toledo 38-0 as -21 chalk this past saturday. The next 6 weeks should be nothing but easy Buckeye wins as they get ready for their November 7th showdown at Penn St.
#8(23) – Miami-Fl Hurricanes 2-0 Ok, we’re sold. We had our doubts even after the Canes beat Florida St in their opener, but not anymore after the way they destroyed Georgia Tech 33-17 last thursday in Miami. The Canes can play friends. Florida St rolled BIG(54-28) at BYU on saturday, which makes Miami’s opening win over FSU even more impressive.
#9(14) – Virginia Tech Hokies 2-1 Solid, gritty 16-15 win at home verus a very good Nebraska team this past saturday. You have to love Frank Beamer. The guy schedules tough non-league opponents every season and still finds a way to win 9+ games virtually every year. The Hokies will have their hands full with the Canes this saturday in what should be the best game to watch this weekend. Can’t wait.
#10(4) – USC Trojans 2-1 It amazes us that USC always seems to find a way to lose against a team that it has no business losing to every year in the Pac 10. Most teams lose because they are overrated. USC loses because it seems to just take the day off. It’s unexplainable. Make no mistake, however, the Trojans are still a bonafide Top 10 club and will recover from this latest setback. USC should still win the Pac 10 and play in another BCS bowl.
#11(8) – Boise St Broncos 3-0 The Broncos get dropped despite their 51-34 win at Fresno St last friday. The Broncos defense was exposed BIG TIME giving up 507 total yards to the Bulldogs including 320 on the ground. Embarassing. Boise St may run the table in the regular season, but they will get embarassed if they play one of the BIG BOYS in a BCS bowl if they don’t get that run defense tightened up.
#12(11) – Penn St Nittany Lions 2-0 Death, taxes, and Joe Pa building up his career win list by feasting on cream puff after cream puff after cream puff. PLAY SOMEBODY old man! For heavens sake, is anyone else tired of Penn St getting rewarded for beating a bunch of cupcakes? The AP and USA Today polls both have Joe Pa’s gang in the Top 5. What a joke. They aren’t even crushing the cupcakes that impressively people. How many teams in the nation could beat Akron 31-7, Syracuse 28-7, and Temple 31-6 at home? At least 15-20 in our opinion. Penn St is NOT a Top 5 team.
#13(13) – Mississippi Rebels 2-0 We are going to find out Thursday night what all the fuss is about the Rebels. Nobody in vegas is buying this team’s act as a Top 5 team. That’s why they are only listed as -3 point favorites at South Carolina this thursday night. Don’t be surprised if the Ol’ Ball Coach gets it done and puts a stop to the Ole Miss bandwagon thursday night.
#14(15) – California Golden Bears 3-0 Cal is another team that is getting ranked too high in the AP and USA Today polls. They check in at #6 in both of those polls this week, but let’s not get too carried away with the Golden Bears. They have a solid club, but were tied 21-21 heading into the 4th quarter last saturday in a 35-21 win at Minnesota. The Bears play at Oregon, at home vs USC, an at UCLA the next 3 weeks. The bet here is they will be fortunate to go 2-1 in those games.
#15(22) – Cincinnati Bearcats 3-0 The Bearcats can play ball friends. Brian Kelly just might be the most underrated head coach in the nation. That guy can coach and a BIG TIME program needs to put his name on top of the list this upcoming offseason. He’s that good. Kelly’s Bearcats went on the road this past saturday to pickup a nice 28-18 win at Oregon St. Don’t be surprised if Cincy is undefeated heading into it’s last regular season game December 5th at Pittsburgh.

BEST of the REST(Teams Ranked 15-25)

#16(16) – Oklahoma St Cowboys 2-1
#17(NR) – Florida St Seminoles 1-1
#18(19) – North Carolina Tar Heels 3-0
#19(20) – Kansas Jayhawks 3-0
#20(21) – Georgia Bulldogs 2-1
#21(18) – Nebraska Cornhuskers 2-1
#22(25) – Missouri Tigers 2-0
#23(24) – Pittsburgh Panthers 2-0

#24(10) – BYU Cougars 2-1
#25(NR) – Washington Huskies 2-1
