Week 10 Free College Football Picks and Spreads: Kansas St Wildcats @ Oklahoma St Cowboys 2011 NCAA Football Vegas Odds, Free Picks, and Expert Predictions on ABC Saturday 11/5/11: While Alabama and LSU will be battling it out for the top spot in the country, the third-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys (8-0) will be trying to take advantage and keep title hopes of their own alive. In order to do so, they will have to take care of business against the 14th-ranked Kansas State Wildcats (7-1). The Wildcats saw their BCS dreams dashed last weekend by Oklahoma, and they would love nothing more than to return the favor and end the title hopes of the Cowboys. It will be easier said than done, and Kansas State is a 20 ½-point underdog in Saturday night’s matchup.

Aside from last weekend’s 58-17 blowout loss to the Sooners, the Wildcats have had little problem scoring points this weekend. Kansas State is averaging 31.5 points per game, with a majority of the damage coming on the ground. The Wildcats are piling up almost 210 yards a game with their rushing attack, putting them among the top 20 teams in the nation. Quarterback Collin Klein and running back John Hubert have both topped 700 yards already and have combined for 18 rushing touchdowns.

While the Wildcats’ offense has been good, the Cowboys’ offense has been great. Oklahoma State is second in the country, scoring 49.9 points per game. The Cowboys have been torching opponents with their fourth-ranked passing attack, which is generating more than 370 yards a game. Quarterback Brandon Weeden is putting himself is the Heisman race and has more than 2,700 yards and 22 touchdowns. He has plenty of weapons at his disposal, with star receiver Justin Blackmon leading the way.

The difference between the two offenses, and possibly Saturday’s game, is balance. While the Wildcats have been one-dimensional, ranking among the 10 worst teams in the country in terms of passing yardage, the Cowboys have a potent ground game to support their high-powered passing attack. Oklahoma State is averaging more than 180 rushing yards a game, and backs Joseph Randle and Jeremy Smith have combined for more than 1,300 yards and have scored 23 touchdowns. Not to mention the fact that both players are averaging more than six yards per carry.

Klein could be the X-factor in the game. If he can control the game with both his arm and his legs, he could keep the Cowboys’ offense off the field while helping the Wildcats’ offense put points on the board. He is particularly effective in the red zone, and he already has 16 rushing scores to go along with nine passing touchdowns. The bad news for Klein is that Oklahoma State’s defense has already held dual-threat quarterbacks Robert Griffin III and James Franklin in check, beating both Baylor and Missouri by more than 21 points.

In the end, the chances of the one-dimensional Kansas State offense keeping up with the high-powered Oklahoma State attack are slim. The Cowboys’ defense may not be great, but it has proven itself solid enough to hold opponents to around 20-25 points. Meanwhile, the Wildcats’ defense was exposed by the Sooners last weekend, particularly in the secondary. Weeden and company are every bit the force that Landry Jones and Oklahoma are, and they should be able to score just as many points. For the second week in a row, the Wildcats will likely have trouble keeping up.
