ESPN.com has released it’s 2010 Preseason College Football Poll and it is now posted on NSAwins.com for your viewing enjoyment. The folks at ESPN.com do an excellent job of covering the College Football landscape, but one of NSAwins.com’s handicapping experts takes issue with a couple of their preseason ranks of a couple teams. For starters, NSAwins.com’s expert handicapper Lou Panelli(Las Vegas handicapper) claims Boise State has “absolutely no business” being ranked #3 over teams like Florida, Texas and Oklahoma. “Are you kidding me?”, Panelli said when asked about Boise State being #3 in the initial ESPN.com 2010 Preseason poll. “Everyone is getting too carried away with Boise Stae this season. Sure, they may run the table but that’s because their schedule is weak sister and they don’t get beaten up every week physically like the SEC, Big 12, ACC and power conference schools do.” According to Panelli, Boise State should be ranked no higher than #6 and feels Boise State could fall from the Top 5 quickly with a tough season opener on the east coast versus Virginia Tech at FedEx Field in Washington, D.C. Another team that is ranked far too high in the eyes of Panelli is the Iowa Hawkeyes. “Iowa came out of nowhere and surprised a lot of teams last season. That’s not going to happen this season. For starters, their talent is not Top-10 material, ok? Add that to the fact that opponents will take them seriously from game 1 on and I just see that team struggling to win 9 regualar season games and certainly won’t come close to winning 10.” So there you have it folks, love him or hate him, but never accuse Lou Panelli of straddling the fence when it comes to giving his expert opinion on College Football teams. The old italian handicapper certainly won’t be on Boise St and Iowa fans’ christmas gifts list this year haha!
