Florida State Seminoles versus Virginia Tech Hokies ACC Championship 2010 NCAAF Week 14 Odds, Preview, and Predictions:  The Florida State Seminoles are headed to Bank of America/Lane Stadium in Charlotte to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies for the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship at 7:45 PM ET on Saturday.  The Seminoles come in at 9-3, 6-2 1st in the ACC Atlantic while the Hokies are on a 10 game winning streak since dropping their first two and are at 10-2, 8-0 1st in the ACC Coastal.  VaTech has dominated the ACC since joining in 2004 seeking their 4th Championship since and looking for the automatic bid to the BCS Orange Bowl.  They must go through a reenergized Florida State team under first year head football coach Jimbo Fisher.  “You know, Florida State’s just got that name,” Hokies head football coach Frank Beamer said and his players echoed.  “Florida State speaks for themselves,” said tight end Andre Smith, who has split in his two regular season games with the Seminoles. “They always have great athletes on that team and they’re always a good team, always a solid team and they always bring their `A’ game.”  Vegas odds makers have the Virginia Tech Hokies a -4 point favorite at Charlotte, NC against the Florida State Seminoles.

Florida State is coming off a 31-7 home victory over in state rival Florida the first time they have beaten them since Urban Meyer became coach moving them to 6-5 ATS for the season.  Senior quarterback Christian Ponder completed 16 of 24 passes for 233 yards and 3 touchdowns also rushing 7 times for 18 yards.  “They’re always competing at the ACC championship level and they’ve been to pretty much every ACC championship game, and so I think they’re ahead of us right now,” Ponder said. “We’re trying to get ourselves back on the map and become relevant again,” he said, noting that the Seminoles ended a four-year skid against Florida and beat Miami this year.  “To beat Florida and win the state of Florida and make it to the ACC championship game, it would be big if we won it,” he said. “Obviously we want to make it to a BCS bowl and very few teams get to make that, so if we did, maybe people would start taking us more seriously.”  The Seminoles are ranked at 20th and the Hokies 10th in the FBS College Football Power Top 25 Week 14 Rankings.

The Hokies are coming off their 10th consecutive win 37-7 over Virginia at home moving them to 9-2 ATS for the season. Quarterback Tyrod Taylor competed 13 of 23 passes for 176 yards and a touchdown while rushing 7 times for an additional 24 yards.  Virginia Tech is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games when playing Florida State.  Odds makers at SGB Global have the over/under for the total score at 51 points combined of the Florida State Seminoles and Virginia Tech Hokies.
