Auburn Tigers at Alabama Crimson Tide 2010 NCAAF Week 13 Odds, Preview, Predictions

Auburn Tigers at Alabama Crimson Tide 2010 NCAAF Week 13 Odds, Preview, and Predictions:  Heisman Trophy front runner quarterback Cam Newton leads No. 3 Auburn Tigers on the road for its final regular season SEC contest for the Iron Bowl against defending BCS National Champion No. 11 the Alabama Crimson Tide on Friday at 2:30 PM ET on CBS Sports.  Alabama comes in at 9-2 3rd in the SEC West while Auburn comes in undefeated at 11-0 first in the division and has clinched a spot against South Carolina in the SEC Championship game.  Auburns perfect season has been mired in controversy lately as Newton’s eligibility has been questions by allegations that his father sought compensation up to $180,000.00 for him to attend a college after his success at junior college and his conduct at Florida.  No NCAA sanctions have been filed and his is still the leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy and the Tigers are still undefeated and continue to allow him to start.

“It says a lot for the football in this state to have two teams of this caliber playing,” Tide coach Nick Saban said on Sunday.  “The focus this week is on the Alabama-Auburn game, it’s not about anything that’s going on outside,” Saban said. “It’s not about what happened last year. None of that really matters. It’s about this week, this time, this game.  “The culmination of your season sort of gets judged by how you do in a game like this.”  Vegas odds makers have the Alabama Crimson Tide a -4 point favorite at home against the Auburn Tigers.

Auburn is coming off a 49-31 SEC victory over the Georgia Bulldogs moving them to 7-3 ATS for the season.  Quarterback Cam Newton had a big day completing 12 of 15 passes for 148 yards 2 touchdowns and a pick while rushing 30 times for 150 yards and 2 more scores.  Receiver Philip Lutzenkirchen caught 2 passes for 31 yards both for touchdowns.  Vegas odds makers have Cam Newton at -500 odds to win the Heisman Trophy.

Alabama is coming off a rout of Georgia State 63-7 covering the spread to move to 6-4 ATS for the season.  Quarterback Greg McElroy completed 12 of 13 for 159 yards and 2 touchdowns before being rested.  On the Auburn matchup he said, “We’re very thrilled and excited to have the opportunity to play Auburn with them having the success that they’ve had.”  The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Alabama’s last 6 games when playing Auburn.  Odds makers at Diamond have the over/under for the total score at 58 1/2 points combined of the Auburn Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide.

I predict the Tide to Roll at home.
