Pac 12 North Division Prediction
1. Oregon Ducks(+200 odds to win Pac 12) – The Ducks are coming off of a very solid 9-4 season last year in head coach Mario Cristobal’s first year at the helm. Oregon closed on a three game winning streak including a hard fought 7-6 win over Michigan State in the Redbox Bowl. The 9 wins marked Oregon’s best win total since they went 9-4 in 2015 and they look ready to break into double digits in wins this season.
Oregon welcomes back almost everyone on offense that played a significant role last season. The Ducks bring back 11 players that started a game last season offensively including senior quarterback Justin Herbert. Herbert threw for 3151 yards and 29 touchdowns while completing 59.4 percent of his passes last season. He led an Oregon offense that averaged 34.8 ppg and 427.2 ypg last year. Expect both of those numbers to improve. On defense, the Ducks gave up 25.4 ppg and 385.9 ypg last season. We look for those numbers to both be improved this season too as they return 8 starters on defense including the entire defensive line.

Pac 12 South Division Prediction
1. UCLA Bruins(+3300 odds to win Pac 12) – The Bruins went just 3-9 last season in the debut season for head coach Chip Kelly. However, that should be the last time UCLA finishes under .500 anytime soon, if ever, under Kelly. The Chipster is one of the best head coaches in the business and he had to go thru some growing pains last year as he worked on installing his system and laying the foundation for future success. UCLA started off 0-5 last fall but finished 3-4 and showed sizeable improvement.
The Bruins welcome back 8 starters on offense and 9 starters on defense. Offensively, the Bruins averaged just 24.5 ppg and 392.6 ypg last season. However, sophomore quarterback D. Thompson-Robinson now has a full year of Kelly’s offense under his belt and should be a much better and consistent player this season. Look for the Bruins offense to really kick it into high gear and resemble more of the up tempo, high-scoring units that Kelly is known for. Defensively, the Bruins have 9 starters back from a unit that gave up 34.1 ppg and 444.9 ypg. While we don’t expect the defense to be anthing special, we do feel they have the talent to make a good jump and become respectable. That’s all Kelly needs as his offense will be the story this season.
