Odds to Win the 2019 MAC Football Championship and MAC East/West Division Predictions
MAC East Division Prediction
1. Ohio Bobcats(+300 odds to win MAC) – The Bobcats are coming off back-to-back 9-4 seasons but still looking for their 1st MAC Title since 1968. Ohio comes into this season with plenty of momentum after beating San Diego State 27-0 in the Frisco Bowl to end last season. The Bobcats welcome back 11 starters from last season’s team including 7 from a stout defense. Defensively, the Bobcats allowed 17 points or less in 5 of their last 7 games and became a very stout unit that was tough to move the ball against. The defense will have to carry the Bobcats this season as the offense could fall back from last season’s high powered attack. Only 4 starters return offensively and no rushers who had more than 20 carries or wideouts who caught more than 3 balls last season. The good news is senior quarterback Nathan Rourke returns and he can ball. Rourke threw for 2434 yards and 23 touchdowns against just 8 interceptions last season. He also rushed for 860 yards and 15 touchdowns. Ohio will probably need him to be even better this season to compensate for the loss of the weapons he had around him last season. 2019 Projection 8-5, 6-2 MAC

MAC West Division Prediction
1. Toledo Rockets(+270 odds to win MAC) – Toledo head coach Jason Candle is 28-13 overall after 3 seasons as head coach. He has 11 starters back from last season’s 7-6 squad that lost 35-32 to Florida International in the Bahamas Bowl. The Rockets offense should be led by senior quarterback Mitchell Guadagni who played in just 7 games last season before being lost for the season with a broken collarbone. Guadagni threw for 1053 yards and 13 touchdowns while having a passer efficiency rating of 162 last year. The Rockets offense is a balanced attack and the rushing offense could be the best in the MAC this season. Sophomore running back Bryant Koback should have a big breakout season after rushing for 917 yards and 14 touchdowns last year as a freshman. Defensively, the Rockets must get better. Last season’s unit gave up far too many yards and points. They allowed an embarrassing 31 points or more in 8 of their 13 games. However, they do return 5 starters and have the potential to be better. The jury is out on whether that will happen but the good news is the Rockets will have an explosive offense to give the defense plenty of help.2019 Projection 9-4, 6-2 MAC
